Called in to a store i knew had one. No go. Said it is an inactive sku so they could not pricematch.
Went into same said store today and found it on the 'clearance deals' table along with a bunch of other useless crap. Marked $129.99. (Yeah right, i bought a 500gb from Best Buy yesterday for 129.99).
Grabbed it and went to their in-store kiosk. Looked up the hard drive on their in-store catalog (Basically their web site) and printed out the price for 69.99.
Brought it up to the register and told them this was what printed out. Cashier was dumbfounded, so he got his supervisor. Supervisor told me he could not price match because it is an 'inactive sku so you can't price match'. I asked "even to your OWN web site"? He told me yes, even to their own website.
I ask him "but i printed that but 20 feet from here at your in-store kiosk". He tells me "because the sku is inactive we cannot change the price, but if you want it you can order it online and come get it". I'm thinking this is the stupidest logic I have ever heard. So I ask him "so you're asking me to go online, order a product, and wait to have it delivered/picked up...when I can just buy the same thing from you right now....which is in my hands?" Once again he tells me "yes, I talked to someone yesterday about this and found out we cannot price match it". .... Ironically he has no idea yesterday the person was me.
He tires of this and tells me he will get his GM to explain. His GM comes over... and I explain to him that this price was printed out over at his own kiosk but 10 minutes ago and that it's ludicrous to have to order it online to get one I'm holding in my hand.
He walks away for 5 min and comes out....apparently afraid i'd make a scene of something that I figured made sense. He rung it up for the 84.99 and I told him it was 69.99.
So out the door I got it for the online sale price after about 15 minutes of haggling.
