alright, I just finished running vantage without changing any settings - everything at default.

got P10634 with a i7 860 @2.8, 4GB ram, (GPU: 9346, CPU: 18131)

Not a fantastic score, I reckon. The fun part is I have some bearable yet noticeable coil whine, which started sometime during the vantage run but wouldn't go away even after the benchmark is finished. Does that sound like a valid reason to request a replacement card? If they do send me a replacement, I would want a reference board though... Gotta go back to that linked thread and see how they approached XFX to have the reference versions sent out.

Received the dreaded 489A-ZDFC version.

My Vantage scores:
CPU 3780
GPU 7728

On an Athlon 64 X2 939 at 2.5GHz. Unfortunately there aren't many public results in the ORB database with such a lowly CPU. But I think it should still be around 9000 for the GPU score.

I also noticed a very brief moment where there appeared to be artifacting - but it went away. I am awaiting response from both XFX and tigerdirect.

just RMA'd mine, sending it off now. Compared to my Diamond XOC 4890 at the same clocks (900/1000, underclocked the Diamond, Overclocked the XFX) it scored significantly lower. 13.5k XFX vs 17.5 XOC in 3D06, don't remember the vantage scores (somewhere in the 11k range on the XOC)

Too bad, I was really hoping for a nice Xfire setup

just got off the phone with tiger CSR, he told me I would be receiving a UPS label for RMA. quite impressed with their service overall. now I could just hold onto my x1650 and wait for 5850s to go enter sub 250 or just get that 5770 and call it a day :|

I ran some tests, since I don't have Vista or above I couldn't install Vantage . The only thing I could do was benchmark it against my friend's 4870 512mb in Warhammer DOWII. Avg frames were 3-5 frames higher at 1080p, max settings. Played a little TF2 and didn't notice any artifacts. I may still return it though, I'll never know what's gonna happen down the road.

Might call XFX and see what they can do.

I guess you have absolutely ZERO reading comprehension! If I had ordered a brand new AZDF video card and TD had shipped a new ZDFC video card, I'd be having the exact same problem. The problem is that they didn't ship what I ordered. However, since this exact thing has already been stated, I don't expect your 3rd-grade reading skills to understand it any more than before.

Well after more thorough testing, the card is definitely going back. I ran some other game benchmarks and it was slower than a 4870 512mb. Looks like my new PC is on hold. I may just get a 5770.

Havent really had any problems with the card outside of today when a reboot seemed to cure it.

For anyone still interested in the 4890, I just picked up XFX 4890 from my local Best Buy for 146.99. Check out the thread at slickdeals. Its a version 3.1 and got 10200 GPU score in Vantage.

Well, I just received a backorder email from TD, and it says I can call and cancel or substitute an item. I think I'm going to call and cancel. I would have to postmark my ebillme rebate by next Friday, and I really don't want to go through all this hassle just to get a card that performs no better than a 4870.

There are a couple 5770s for the same price, and I could substitute one of those; however, I think I'm just going to wait and see what deals show up in a month or so.

Edit: It's been canceled! I was really looking forward to the solid performance of a real 4890, but I'm certainly glad I escaped having to deal with a crap 4890. Good luck to all of you!

I canceled it, because others were not receiving the product that they specifically ordered. (i.e. Every person ordered item #HD489AZDF and received item # HD489AZDFC). If others had been receiving the product they had ordered, then I would not have canceled it.

I'll say it again. My cancellation had absolutely, positively nothing at all to do with this being a refurb. It had absolutely everything to do with TD shipping the wrong product to every person in this thread who received one.

non-refurb ZDFCs suck to begin with, that has nothing to do with the cards being refurb. on the flipside, non-ZDFC refurbs would have been just fine, which is what everyone was expecting to get judging by the part number and pics posted on the product page. It was nothing more than a boo-boo on TD's behalf, and they have handled the case accordingly. There is no connection between these card being refurbs and ZDFCs being worse performers.

hmm bing for TD is back up to 15%. Should I go with the 5770 or wait til fermi comes out at the 26th to see if prices drop? Also, can I still use the ebillme for 25 off since I returned the 4890 I got from TD? I never sent the rebate in.
