I'm just wondering how you know this? Also, is this every store? I know that some of them will drop prices right before inventory, but since inventory is done on a store-by-store basis, that wouldn't apply to every store.

If it is true, however, there's a wireless router that was open box when I was there on Tuesday. If it is still there, and they discount it more, it becomes mine!

Somehow I dont like buying open box items, unless its a steal of a deal. Must be that I like to unwrap everything and see how neat everything looks before I do so. If I can help it I would rather pay a bit more for a new item. Dunno its just me.

Its definitely possible. I know our store is having a "Standard operating procedure" audit on wednesday and that they like to get rid of as many open box items as possible before that.

Do not be affraid to get the manager involved to get the price dropped further. I bought a Sony PIP 27 in tv for $299 with the 4 yr extended warrante. The back of the tv had a small crack in the plastic. It was a $ 600 plus deal when I bought it. Remember that the open boxes are like cancer to the manager and they will sometimes do anything to get rid of them.

I remember reading an interview with Richard Schulze in Business Week a few weeks ago where he mentioned that they had struck a deal with a national liquidator to sell returned and repaired merchandise from their B&M and .com business. If I recall correctly, I think that the deal was through a subsidary of AIG, the company that administers their performance service plans.
