I assume this was part of the GOP's new plan to get rid of trump. The establishment doesn't like being challenged, they don't want an outsider in the white house, so trump has to go. They already started painting him as a raciest.

No, conservatives are not the reason for Trump. Trump is the result of the beltway elite, of both parties, creating a disaffected voter class. Yes, a good deal of Trump's demographics point to a 'conservative' lot, but there are people from both parties backing this guy. The beltway elitists, suck the collective schlongs of their .1% masters and couldn't give a flying f*ck about any of us. Along comes Trump saying bilge that many want to glom onto. People are clinging to this asshat with a messianic worship just like many did to Obama in '08.

We are so screwed as a nation. On the rep side, we have Trump the troll using scorched earth tactics to preside over a smoldering pile of rubble. On the other we have someone who is pure evil running against a doddering old man promising 'free sh*t' for all while promising to tax the evil rich to death to pay for it - again, telling people sh*t that they want to hear. And to top it all off, we have the media, driving this like a badly written reality show to appeal to the American Idol crowd.

The apathy / dependence of the majority have put us in this situation as well.

If it weren't for all the history and museums in DC (and having fam nearby) I'd say nuke it from orbit.

I agree conservatives have created this Frankenstein, but regardless of who is at fault, if he is elected, he'll be everyone's problem. With that in mind, I think that letter cogently summarizes Trump's deficiencies in foreign policy. Might be more helpful if it had wide distribution around the time of the general election. It's too late to make a difference in the primary. Unfortunately, it will likely be lost in obscurity 6 months from now.

The ones who dropped the ball on 9/11 and got us into Iraq looking for nonexistent WMDs?

It's not that they make horrible mistakes... they don't even admit them or condemn the architects. They stand by such policy today, and only wish we had invaded more countries... restricted more American liberties...

Their standing is in absurdity.

If you take a shit on the open letter, it would add more value to whatever garbage is written on it.

The problem with explanations like this is that every point in that letter is accurate. Maybe this really does have to do with Donald Trump's deficiencies, not whether someone is an "outsider" or not.

Funny thing is I remember Palin accusing Obama of consorting with domestic terrorists, but now her endorsement is doing it on live TV with the KKK.

Yeah, I think they started with orange. But I don't think they needed any paint to begin with. Either way, it doesn't require very much.

They push their tough talk and it doesn't work. So they double down on it harder. Still doesn't work, so they double down harder. Still doesn't work. So...

Can anyone explain what they mean by this remark:

Furthermore, his expansive view of how presidential power should be wielded against his detractors poses a distinct threat to civil liberty in the United States.

Well we ARE getting murdered, economically, by "free" trade.
Questioning Trump's idea of "handling" it is certainly legit.
I don't like the sound of trade wars either... But we have to do... something!

Ehh.... point granted, in a general sense.
But when are you going to disown Bush and company for that, you cowards?

Someone better tell NATO it's "hateful, anti-Muslim rhetoric" to point out the obvious with refugees.
Nato commander: Isis ‘spreading like cancer’ among refugees
Your opposition to reality is pathetic. What, you need to be buddy buddy for your nation building and military welfare projects? How are those Afghan roads and hospitals working out, win any hearts and minds yet? Must be nice having to fund something that gets blown up and rebuilt year after year. Shovel ready projects?

Mexico will have nothing but hatred and contempt for the United States if we don't grant amnesty. In short, they already hate us if they cannot invade us.
This is little short of WAR already. You are telling us to surrender or face consequences... whose side are you on anyway?

Do we need global military bases to play world police?
This is just another part of the trade war crap... sounds terrible, but what's really the right answer?

With allies like Saudi Arabia and Turkey... on the issue of ISIS, who needs enemies?
As for dictators... well it IS Trump. Birds of a feather... I know who he is.

And you are not?

I'm sorry, are you speaking of Bush, Obama, or yourselves?

That's accurate... and why I will never vote for him.
But damn if he isn't a tempting !@#$ you vote to deserved scum like you, GOP.

Not bad of a post

I assume it's referring to the idea that he wants it to be easier to go after people for libel.

If so, that's funny.

I wasn't aware that libel is a Constitutional/civil right. Nor was I aware that suing someone in court for libel was a "presidential power".

They're really stretching it to try and spread some FUD.

I'll be curious to see if Trump's polling is influenced by this and Romney's effort. I'm guessing, as has been the case so far, his numbers may even go up.

I wonder when the GOP leaders are going to figure out that the people of their party don't like them. Bros be slow learners.

Freedom of the press is a constitutional right though, and signing laws that weaken it is an exercise of presidential power. Nobody has a right to libel someone, which is why that's already illegal. What he wants to do is make it really easy for rich people and corporations to silence their critics.

Of all the many many bad ideas Trump has his attack on freedom of the press is one of the worst. Even people dumb enough to support him otherwise should be able to see that.
