write your own business plan...

seriously, if you have to ask those questions on an internet forum, the answer is TOO MUCH FOR YOU!

1) You should have experience running a business beforehand
2) You need lots of capital. Lots.
3) Location, location, location.
4) Keeping the computers up to date, software purchases will be expensive.
5) You need to serve food which opens a whole nother can of worms.
6) You need to employ full time trustworthy staff

That probably sums it up.

Well, lets see... I think the comps for an internet cafe don't have to be top of the line, so think about $500 per system, you're looking at about 15,000.

Building costs are going to be dependant on where you're located, but I'll just say 100,000.

T1 is $1000/month? Not sure, I haven't looked at prices in a while.

You're probably looking at around $150k or so, but then again I'm pulling these numbers out of my ass so I could be way off.

First I would read this then thank yourself that you didn't waste money opening an internet cafe which most likely will fail.

If you want a breakdown:
30x "Decent" gaming computers @ $500 each = $15,000
30x Software packages (games, licenses) @ $200 each (conservative estimate) = $6000
1x Building fees / rent / lease @ $100,000 / year (varies on location) = $100,000
1x Furnishings for business = $5000
4x Full Time employees @ $16,000 / year = $64,000

Total, for bare minimum business expenses, 1st year = $190,000

Keep in mind that does not include the cost of any food or food serving capability. Insurance, benefits, and misc. expenses not included either. Figure $250,000 as a safe point for 1st year, $200,000 / yr upkeep maybe.

Looks like a good estimate to me.

I talked to my local net cafe, and they said their load on average over 7 days its roughly 45%. He has 50 computers, so lets assume that 25 are always in use. $2 an hour, for 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, as his place always open. $8400 a day, not bad, and since he has family labor, no need for that. He also sells drinks and packaged snacks, he says thats a good $100 a day, so thats $700 a week. $9100 a week, roughly $36400 monthly.

So if all things remain constant, $436800 can be made, but .... this is next to a college campus.

Remember the stat.... many small business fail in the first year. If not the first, the 2nd year will kill roughly 89% of them. You are resonsible for all debts, or you and your partners.

Now looking at the other estimate, 250k could be very hard to make if your location stinks and you got city curfew laws.

Remember to also have a big screen tv, a few game systems, and a sofa. It will get boring playing nothing but CS.
