Yeah, I know...but after reading the excessive spooging over it here, I was rapidly frustrated by dumb things about it.

At least you were helpful because you mentioned the Hot Lists - I DIDN'T HAVE ANY!!! Poking around, I saw that they'd been turned OFF and when I switched to Bookmarks, I saw that it was set to Sort Alphabetically. When I set it to My Order, I was FINALLY able to organize the BMs in the Hol List

BUT, the Bookmark menu itself remains the same and uneditable. Got a fix for that?

[edit]

You put the steps in while I was writing the above - delayed by breaks for watching Columbia coverage - and I thank you again for being helpful in a manner that Nox felt uncompelled to be.

Next problem - when you hover over the truncated BMs, the full text doesn't appear like it does in other apps. I don't run full screen (1600x1200 rez) and am not gonna start now.

Just downloaded and gave it a shot. Forgot that I registered Opera 4 way back when so I can upgrade for only $15. Definately considering it.

The mouse gestures have me transfixed right now. Me likes.

When I click on a link to view WMP content (like @ MS-NBC), it says that it's not installed. Huh?

And Flash won't install.

Fast ain't enough.:|

Judging my the majority of the comments, Id say Opera is more of a hassle then a convenience... ::sigh:: Just cant get away from MS...

No, you can't. Cutting and pasting only drops it into the list in ALPHABETICAL ORDER and dragging doesn't work.

History is not available as a list like NS and IE, either. How do you see a list?

Unless you can give some real step-by-step instructions, I'm gonna assume you're just an Opera employee hyping up downloads.
Easy big guy, there is no reason for you to get all hostile! :| I posted a screenshot to show you where to manage your bookmarks. I'm not trying to hype up anything, or an Opera employee! All I?m doing is trying to help you out since you can't seem to figure out how to drag and drop and manage your bookmarks in Opera7!

Like I said before, right click anywhere on your bookmarks and you will see more options. One of the options is to ?Sort by my order?! Thus ?ALPHABETICAL ORDER? is no more!!!

As for the history, I wasn't sure what you actually wanted, however CrowDog as made it clear.

You need to get a clue buddie, before jumping all over someone for helping out! :|

No, you need to get a clue about how to be informative.

I found the thing you posted just fine (I've got 2500+ posts without having a vague clue of where browser stuff is?), but the ONLY place I see you can actually edit it the way I wanted was on the Hot List and as I posted above (that you ignored) it doesn't carry over to the Bookmarks list.

Combined with the Flash and WMP problems, your claim that that it's the "best web browser EVERY!!!" (EVERY? Do you mean "EVER"?) is strained pretty hard.

Flash works perfectly for me, so does WMP, Real etc... I'm not sure why you're having such a hard time?

If you don't like it then go back to IE (or whatever you were using), because I don't remember forcing you to try Opera7.

Btw, I ignored it because I didn't know this thread was already on a 2nd page (I have it set to list 100 post). It's not like I intentionally ignored it.

I am a long time opera(6-6.5) user. I tried this and I was all excited jumpin up and down. Especially when I saw NO AD and it's free. I liked it but I had a few problems that I will fix late. Like when I try use the Email program it was not working and now pop up keeps buggin me. Another thing is, I can't seem to sort my personal bar by my ordering.
Anyway, this is a big step up in the Opera series. Now I am narrowing my browsers to Pheonix/Opera6.5/Opera7/IE. I took out Mozilla.

Off topic, hard to belive but this is my fost post since I joined 9 months ago .

Actually, unless I'm mistaken, it's not entirely free. The indication is that you'll start seeing ads before long unless you buy a code for the software. I'm still playing around with it, but there are a lot of pro's that are making me consider upgrading.

I spoke too soon. And yet still this email error keeps buggin me. Oh well back to 6.5 I go. The ad is huge on 7 anyway. And it uses more system resorce than 6.5

I thought the old version of opera was 6.05, are you talking about IE opera 6.5 found here? and are you comparing it to opera version 7 at opera? Im just a little confused.

If you are talking about IE opera, is it better than opera? thanks

I want to know how I'm supposed to view my individual IMAP folders in the Opera Email client

I can't figure out the IMAP folders either.

I use opera for most things, then AvantBrowser for those things that seem to need an IE style browser to work properly...

OK, f*ck it, after trying O7 "final" for four days I'm going back to 6.05. I just can't get past all the bugs. I've used Opera since v3.5x almost exclusively and I realize that it has it's quirks and I've put up with buggy "final" releases before (anyone remember v5.0?) but this is just too much.

O7 Pros and Cons:

Pros:

-Slightly faster page loads than 6.05
-Movable toolbar buttons
-right-click "Paste and Go" context menu
-Password "wand"

Cons:

-M2 email program. I just can't get the hang of it. Virtual folders. "K" to mark read. Ever-growing contacts list. Can't choose from different contacts by pressing the "To" button on a new, blank email. No visual pop-up for "email received". Non-adjustable columns, etc.
-"Alphabetical only" non-sortable Bookmark menu on main toolbar. Yeah, you can sort the Hotlist bookmarks but I don't leave the Hotlist on, I want access to my Bookmark folder from the toolbar.
-Using the "Back" button or "Z" key actually reloads the entire page on a lot of sites. That's one of the best things about the older Operas, you push the back button and it just goes back to the cached page, IE and Netscape have always reloaded the entire page. Now Opera 7 does the same thing a lot of times, but not always(?)
-Progress bar is fixed at the bottom of the window. All other Operas let you move it to the top toolbar to save screen space.
-Pages load text first, then graphics, and while the graphics are loading the page keeps moving and realigning itself. This is how IE works and it bugs me. I start reading the page as it's first loading then have to keep following the text around as the page realigns itself as the graphics load. Makes me kind of dizzy. Pre-Opera 7's loaded all the text in it's final position, why can't O7?

There's probably more "cons" but I'm back to 6.05 now and am trying to forget O7 for now. I'm not giving up on O7 but I will not use it until they fix more of the bugs. I'll just keep reading the "opera.general" newsgroup to keep up with further releases.

Personally, I'd rather use Phoenix.... but the development crew fell asleep apparently--no updates in awhile.

Gave up on O7 this weekend. Back to mozilla. Went to csnation.counter-strike.net and O7 did not render the page properly when I wanted to read more about the updates -- no matter how I configured the browser to be recognized as. Mozilla works well, but I do miss the asyncronous DNS.

How do you disable all advanced features per site? A la "restricted zone" in IE6, I would like to disable all javascript, flash, etc, on certain sites.

(edit) also, can you make the cookie dialog to pop-up and ask what to do with the cookies per site, a la mozilla?

Exactly. And I am not waiting for an update anytime soon. I agrre with you on the movable toolbar but I am not sure if Opera 7 is faster than 6.05. I mean just like IE and Mozilla, all it does is display the content while Opera6.05 loads the complete page then display it. Am I right?

i wish netscape was as good as o7 ... man i love this thing!

reminds me of old days when everyone used Netscape over IE

if little things, (better fonts, java related loading) are fixed , i'll definitely get rid of IE
