Will Opera work with Popup killer software? Specifically FreeSurfer?

Opera would be great if I could do my banking with it. Unfortunately whenever I try and access my account it says I am using Opera 7 and it is not supported. Even if I tell it to identify as IE6.0. That sucks.

Just use IE for your banking and Opera for everything else .

I must admit, Opera has really come a long way from the first time I tried it (version 4 or 5). It feels *very* fast, very stable, and the load of features are great to have. My main complaints with version 7 are that it doesn't seem to recognize any of my MIME types, and the UI takes up a ton of room, both on top and on the bottom. Other than that, it really is a great alternative to IE, and a hell of a lot better too.

I thought there was a mozilla browser (or netscape) that had gesture support. Maybe it was an add-on... I know I've seen something like that before. Doesn't really interest me.

I use crazy browser. It has all the compatibility^Wconformity of ie + tabs and no popups = good enough for me.

But, I like competition so, glad to hear that Opera 7 is working for you all.

another nod for crazy browser....been using it for a month now and am hooked. i was playing around with opera yesterday, and have some questions

can you set it so that a middle click will open a clicked link in a new tab in the background?

can opera save sets of pages as one bookmark? crazy browser has groups where i can define a number of pages, so if i open up a group like any other bookmark, it loads up each page thats in the group in a separate tab. i've found opera can save window setups, but the only way i found to access them were through importing/exporting

how do you turn off that stupid wand thing? i hate having it ask for each site as i'm relogging into all my stuff after moving to opera. i know its only once for each site, but i don't want it to ever ask to save a password....

good stuff regardless!

Hmmm...memory usage is getting a bit high. Seems to be a leak (open for a while, up to 53mb now).

Talk about a memory hog, slows down my K6-2 machine with 300+ megs of ram pretty good. Looks pretty sexy, to much bloat for an old computer doing other tasks at the same time though.

That is really wierd you guys are getting memory problems... mine seems to stay at 30mb of RAM usage. This is more than IE (which uses about 10 for me), but not so much as 50 or 100 that some of you are reporting.

theres a setting you have to change to avoid this. mine was useing 116megs or ram earlier today. i posted in teh opera forums and they told me to go to prefrences-> history and cashe. uncheck teh "enable auto ram cashe" button and set your own values. i did this and mine stays under 25megs now

First time using opera.. I am trying out this gesture thing.. I dont get it..

What do you mean you can go to the next in thread?

I figured out forward, back, reload, etc.. But I wanna know what you mean about changing the threads.. Are you talking about in these forums?

Also, it sucks when you try to do a gesture and it doesnt work, and the right-click window pops up..

I'm sure Opera has those patented.

(if they don't they really should have)
Guess you've never heard of StrokeIt.

is there a way to customize the order in which the tabs are closed? i've been scouring the web for this solution but no one talks about it.

I found a problem with Opera 7.01, at least that I cannot seem to solve. I set up it's mail function to work with one of my pop3 accounts, only to realize that the port in question is blocked here at work. So I removed the account, set the mail back to the system's default client (pegasus) and it still gives me pop3 network errors even though there is no email info entered. Any way to turn that crap off completely?

You can go to the next page of a thread. You know it will work when you see that the forward arrow at the top has changed to two triangles like the fast-forward symbol.
