Opera isn't supported anymore??

Recently, I've been checking the appearance of the website in different browsers.
Everything was ok, until I run Opera. There were some issues with displaying this website. So, I told about that the website developer, but he said it doesn't matter now, since Opera isn't supported anymore and they're not planning new releases!

Is this true?

The official Opera website doesn't claim anything like this! At least, I couldn't find.

What version of Opera are you running? The reason I ask is, AFAIK, Opera as a standalone, unique piece of browser software finished some years ago (version 12 I think?). Since then it's basically a Google Chrome clone with a few bits on top.

So while I would say "discontinued" is inaccurate (the wikipedia page seems to agree with you), Opera is now pretty irrelevant.

A Browser for Our Friends

i agree... stopped using it (well, I have version 12.16 still installed, but hardly using it due to security concerns. 12.<16> is the last version before they killed their own engine)

It can be useful for certain streaming video or audio sites, where you keep another brand of browser open for other browsing activities, without having to worry about accidentally interrupting the streaming media.

It's based on blink engine so technically yes is the answer, however it's going to have all the same features/layout as the original Opera Presto engine.

Latest Opera is fast, but the original had far more features and customisation that latest Opera does not have, shame Opera changed direction and went with Chromium, however Vivaldi should fill the hopes of many old time Opera users ie improved speed, layout, customisation of the original.

I think it will do well once it's out of beta stage.

just like google chrome is now unsupported for windows xp i think opera 36 is going to be the last opera for windows xp because opera 37 is not for windows xp.

Same as Edge, I want to give Vivaldi a real try, but not without extensions. Namely ad-blocking.

I know I can manually install a Chrome add-on in Vivaldi, but it gets lost/wiped on update. I'll wait for official support.

What was wrong exactly? I don't think there are any obvious rendering flaws in Opera36 since its using the same blink engine as Chrome.

i didn't know that opera 37 is not for windows vista but did know that opera 36 is the last for windows xp

I just discoverd that Opera can't redirect the page after attempting to log into IGN (ign.com) using Google. I wonder how many other sites that can't be handled properly with Opera.
