My wifes laptop started acting up and came up with the operating system not found error. I tried to do a restore and repair and it couldn't find the hard drive. I then took it out and put in in a USB enclosure and it did find a partition on it but nothing else. I fugured the HD was bad. Well since then she is using my laptop and I came home and it had the same exact problem. It is a differnt make and has a different HD but both use Vista Home Premium. She said this time it locked up opening word file and it asked her to register office and she said no then it rebooted and locked up. Now it cannot find the operating system or HD. Does anyone have any suggestions or has heard of this before? I find it hard to believe that both computers only 1 month out of warranty would fail with the same problem.Any help is appreciated.

Thanks..................

I did some research for you on google and I returned this: here

It seems as though you have run into some kind of strange bad luck and both hard drives might be bad.

You can try the suggestions from that thread that's linked but the diagnosis and fix was mainly that the hard drive was bad and needed replacement.

And I do agree, it seems weird that if you have two computers that are different models that this happened to.
