They are all good. Try out one, if you don't like something about it (other than the whole way it works), try another one. If you have broadband it only eats up a little time and no money.

Mandrake 9.1 or 10 is the easiest install
Fedora
Knoppix if you want to see Linux without putting it on the HD.

Somebody asks this pretty regularly, so just flip through the last several forum pages.

Try the Suse 9.0 Live first. Very nice. Still can't get it to properly print to my Epson Action Laser II printer. Anyone got some suggestions?

WarpSpeed- Check out This. Seems that the said printer works fine with the "laserjet" driver under CUPS.
And tad214, I second the Fedora motion. I started out on Linux using Red Hat 5.2, so I can vouch for Red Hat/Fedora's easiness and newbie-friendliness. After you get comfortable, you may want to try-out Debian or Gentoo.

Check out Linuxprinting.org

That will give you a comprehesive list of printer drivers.

Both Epson and HP are generally well supported.

Stay away from Lexmarks or Canons if your a linux user. They generally have very poor linux support.

The BEST printing system for Linux is the CUPS printing system. It stands for the Common Unix Printing System

It's used in most linux distros and is used in OS X 10.2 and later. It uses what is called the Internet Printing Protocol, and with some mods to the config file to allow incomming connections from your lan you can print from windows machines to you linux machine without having to set up stuff like SAMBA to allow the normal file and print sharing stuff that windows uses. Windows supports IPP.

Other then that the traditional way to print is by using the lpr stuff which was originally designed for those old line printers and realy sucks.
