I should not have to hunt and peck in order to make my character do something. I don't have to give a second thought to performing actions in real life. I'm not saying there is anything wrong with the way their weapons fire, or the breathing mechanics of the game. A game should not make me feel like I'm hitting switches inside the cockpit of a vehicle to make my character go prone. I also should not have to click through 3 different menus to tell a guy to go stand over there. It's horribly unintuitive and destroys the sense of immersion the players have.

There are better ways to make a battlefield simulation than to make your character feel like some robot.

To be honest I agree with you, to answer the previous question, yes I have gone on patrols and to tell you the truth, after a while, everything becomes muscle memory. Your body adapts to it and you really don't need to think to line up a sight picture or giving a hand signal to a teammate.

I always felt ARMA's control system was overdone, with all the training and repetitions we do, it really does become second nature and I've always felt that ARMA was more complex than real life.

As for OPF2 I actually liked it. It'd be nice if the ballistic system was set to also take account windage in addition to elevation though, not a big deal usually but obviously makes sniping feel very fake. Also would be nice to have an option to not have all weapons seemingly zeroed at 100m, That's not too bad for an M16/M4 since I can make the adjustments easily out to 300 maybe 400m, but again, detracts from the times you have to snipe.

As for VBS2 I've read about it but I've never seen it, used it or met anyone in the Army that has done so either so it might be one of those "pet projects" that the Army makes 1 room for and uses for very limited training.

OPF2 is a piss-poor console crap-port...comparing the console FPS to ARMA2 (mil-sim) is a joke...

Cry moar, I love OF: DR. I loved the original OF too. ARMA, on the other hand, is a poor excuse for a game. Mostly because games should be fun. And shouldn't crash frequently.

Never had ARMA crash on me *shrugs*

The original OPF was coded by Bohemia Interactive Studios, published by Codemasters.
ARMA and ARMAII are also coded by Bohemia Interactive Studios.
All using different iterations of the Real Virtuality engine..and done by the same people.

Dragon rising is coded by Codemasters, using not only a different engine, but also totally different people...and a piss-poor console port to PC.
