The Matrix Cell Phone by Samsung is going to be offered at Best Buy for $19.99 with a free Matrix tin and a one year contract with Sprint sometime within the next week or so. I saw Best Buy has the tins and accessories out for the phone, but nobody knew when the phones were coming in (I'm guessing either they're waiting for Sunday's sales or it'll be on Tuesday when they restock).

Does the one year subscription come with the phone, or does the phone come with the one year subscription? IE: Do you have to pay for the subscription?

The subscription means that you have to sign a one year contact with Sprint. It cost you nothing extra other then the normal monthly fees associated with your contract, unless you cancel early...

Pretty ugly phone if you ask me... and you can hardly see it used in the movie at all. I only remember a 5 second shot if it.

Where'd you get the info on the sale price?

looked to me like it was $20 for the tin, or you could get the tin free with the purchace of any Samsung phone. It made no mention of the actual phone ever bieng available. the $20 price tag clearly said "tin"
plus... yeah the phone looks bulky and annoying if it ever was released.

Plus the fact that cnet says it's voice only, and not vision. It may look like a matrix phone and have the guts of an a500, but it is no full featured phone. Plus cnet clearly states that it's gonna be in the $500 price range.

I was just going to mention that. I can't see them clearing out the phone for $20 when they can sell it for hundreds...

I was in BB last week asking about this phone. They didn't have it in stock yet, but said they expect it in stock this week and will carry a price tag around $500.

samsung's website has this phone as sold out, so i wasn't even sure if it would be sold at best buy at it was stated that this would be an online only special, but oh well, maybe, but at $500 this is a joke, not a phone

I wonder if it doesn't have vision, because i know that it has a color screen, and you would think with it being associated with the Matrix and all, it'd at least have vision....

not only is the phone disturbingly fugly, it's voice only with no other enhanced functionality whatsoever (no camera, no games, no bluetooth, no wap - nada).

any other phone with these two qualities would end up gathering dust on the shelves even when given away for free - but this one is the limited edition matrix phone, and there will be plenty of morons who will sacrifice their rent money to get this fugly, worthless piece of crap that looks like it was designed by a drunk, disgruntled, blind, former fisher price engineer, with service from a crappy provider.

meanwhile, anybody who is in on this deal will almost die laughing on the way to the bank cause they can't believe people are stoopid enough to fork over 500 smackeroonies for this.

this is so not a hot deal...

At $500, it's definitely not attractive. I, however, very much like the industrial appearance. Matrix-related or not, I'd love to get my hands on one. Way out of my price range, though. Guess I'll just wait until they're on eBay for ~$50, like I did for my Nokia 8146.
