opinion on pay?

I have been working at a place as a web developer, and my responsibilities will increase this coming summer. My pay has been roughly $12.5 because I am a student. and I have never had a problem with the pay, i enjoy where I work, and have even choose not to go to other jobs on campus with higher pay. one time, my friend offered to have me take over his position when he graduates, and his job pays $20. anyways, i didn't care, i liked where I worked and I was told that they didn't have the money. So all of a sudden they are having 2 new positions, which isn't even close my position's technical level, but they are going to have a higher pay. I don't get it! Should I hint for a raise? Or should I just suck it up. Damn, things get complicated when everyone isn't equal anymore. haha.

if it is like here, some HR dude makes up all that crap based on whatever HR voodoo they do and so it might not make sense, but it does to the HR wierdos

the two new positions aren't even that technical. One is scheduling, and the other is researching on new potential technologies to use. My co-workers even told me that its kinda screwy that positions like those get paid more then I do. On top of that, half of the hours they spend in their new position wouldn't involve in working for that particular position, it'll probably be customer support. While I always program, every hour that I am clocked in.

how would I go about hinting a raise?

don't hint, hints won't get your point across

be direct with your supervisor and lay this all out and ask outright for more pay. pick something reasonable and be clear and ask for that specifically
