Opinions needed for best gaming setup

Hi i would like to know which setup is better for gaming, i have two setups that will accompany by an geforce 2 mx

#1 setup:
P3 700e@933 mhz
256 meg pc133
bx motherboard

#2 setup
Duron 1ghz (Morgan)
256 meg pc2100
kt266a chipetset

I'm leaning towards #2 since it's a Morgan chip (assuming that its default clock speed is 1GHz rather than a chip that has been overclocked to 1GHz) and uses DDR RAM.

Yes it is a morgan chip and the p3 is a 700e@933. Thanks for the quick response. I'm just wondering if the ddr would make a difference at all and its probably gonna run at 200mhz since thats what the duron supports. Would it be a big difference ir not i'll just give my friend the p3 with sdrams.

I don't think there will be a huge difference either way. I used to have a P3 700@933MHz and it was a great setup. I would take the 1GHz Duron setup for a few reasons.

1. It's newer technology and therefore is much more upgradeable. The P3 setup is a dead end in the upgrade department.
2. It's DDR
3. The P3 has already been overclocked, but you may be able to overclock the Duron and squeeze a little more performance out of it.

But like I said, you probably won't see a big difference in gaming performance between the two. You'll be more limited by the Geforce2 MX.

With a GF2MX you are going to be completely limited by that card. Though the Duron might perform slightly better due to newer and faster system hardware, the performance difference will likely not be noticeable.

If you can snag a GF4 Ti4200 or a decent Radeon 8500 you will have a much faster system which will then be almost completely limited by your CPUs.

Shooters advice is solid and I'll add the following:Use NVmax to juice as much as you can from that G2 MX and pencil in the L1s on that duron and drop the multiplier and up the FSB (I have a 1ghz Morgan@7.5x155FSB=1.165ghz on a AK31A and combined with DDR 2100Crucial I see a difference in some games (I notice a big difference in MOH:AA as compared to 11.5x100=1.15 ghz) not to mention the Memory benchies are much better

Thanx guys i'll try that l1 pencil thing and see if i can get it to work, for now it will be geforce 2 mx, i'll overclock it , doubt he would want to spend more on a video card. Thanks again

If he already has the MX, then keep it. If not, you can get a GTS-V for $44 (49 shipped) from newegg that will get you better performance and can easily overclock to over GTS or possibly PRO speeds.

System #2 is definitely going to be a better option.

Not over pro but definitly over GTS because that's the card that's in my second rig, just look at my sig and your right it's the best bang for the buck card I've owned
