Opinions needed on a pie recipe

I know there is the old recipe of apple pie with cheddar cheese on top, however, I came up with an idea of a strawberry pie with a thick layer of mozzarella cheese baked inside.

I personally think mozzarella would pair better with the sweet flavor of the strawberries than would cheddar, however, one difference that I would do would be to have the mozzarella be baked as a thick layer inside the pie (1/2 the thickness of the filling), instead of having it being melted on top. I think the flavor combination would be excellent and would give the pie a nice texture when freshly baked.

What does anyone here think about such an idea?

After looking at your avatar I suggest leaving the strawberries out of your recipe. Just cheese and dough. Don't even bake it, that takes too long. You do not look like a man accustomed to deferred gratification.

Dude, dudette, however you self identify, everyone knows that strawberries and mozz don't go together without okra and pickle juice. If you don't understand the basics WTF are you even trying to cook?

Trying to heat a thick slab of mozz is going to nuke the strawberries.

I have never heard, or tried, or know anyone who's tried cheddar on their apple pie. Mozzarella on strawberries sounds gross. Just spread some cream cheese on that bitch.

have the mozzarella be baked as a thick layer inside the pie (1/2 the thickness of the filling), instead of having it being melted on top.

I'd imagine that the strawberries would drown in mozzarella. I'd suggest between half and twice the thickness of the crust rather than the filling.

Am I the only one who's thinking, "forget this and grab some rhubarb and mix it with strawberries and be happy."?

Well people put Ketchup on their eggs, so.

The sharpness of cheddar would pair better in my opinion. You could also go with the tartness of goat cheese. But if you want the richness of cheese without driving flavor, mascarpone is the way to go (ricotta ok but too much grit).

That's your answer for everything!
FYI, it most assuredly did not clear up the misfire in my 1974 Fiat X1/9. Nor did it take care of my friend's syphilis.

oh, syphilis? you forgot to add the paint thinner once the week-old, sun-fermented capers started to bloom in the Tom Collins mix. As for your FIAT, are you sure that you bathed the spark plugs in the mix and re-seated them before filling your oil reservoir with the rest?
