I am looking at getting this monitor for a great price. I understand it's basically the same as the Sony CPD-520 monitor but I want to find out what people think about the quality of the picture. The specs are actually really good at .24mm dp and 1600x1200 at 85hz as well as 1880x1440 res, and not to mention, dual inputs.

Opinions?

Edit: What about the Dell P990, is it basically the same but in a 19" flavor?

Try a NEC/Mitsubishi FE1250+ 22" instead.

I bought one to replace my 19" Sony Trinitron and I couldn't be more happy.

Reason I'm asking is that I can get one for $329 Canadian that is one of their off-lease models.
I figure that I can't beat the price, unless it's poor quality, but I agree, I would like the NEC (it has a Mitsubishi Diamondtron tube right?).

Just got in on that deal last month.
Mine was built April 2000, dead straight and looked brand new. Others at redflagdeals have not been so lucky. Think they ran a poll 60/40.
Monitor was overly bright for the first hour, then used auto color correct feature and all was fine. Plus dialed in with Nokia monitor
test.
Normally these have been available locally at resellers as well but often in a little rougher shape. I think dfs keeps the best ones. This was a good deal inspite of the fact that by now you would think they could be had for a lot less. If it wasn't for LCD dropping the production count down. Last 21" I bought 18 months ago for $300can and I figured next used one would be $250can max. But the market was never really flodded with 21's. Of well dfs is still probably about the best you can do without a local reseller. Plus six months warranty on an older off lease is real good. I use a couple of the dt1626's at work and they are good too but not save yourself $30 good. It would be a tougher decision if the dt1626's were below $250. The P1110 is surely the prototype Trintron/AG monitor, for good or bad.

I had the P1110 at work for doing CAD design until we were burglarized early this year. They must have had good taste cuz my monitor was the only one stolen, but left the other 3 monitors.

It was a great monitor and I'd get another one in a heart beat. The only thing I didn't like about it was Dell's "gray" color! Come on Dell call it what it is BLACK!!!

If I was able to (and I tried) I'd get one of those P1110 from DFS in Canada, but they won't sell to the states and they are supposedly too new to be sold at the US DFS, so I have been told. Maybe later dude.

Go for it Maverick007!

i've had two p991s, the first developed the infamous corner color problem. the second has been just fine, except for a geometry issue that i can't figure out (the geometry controls aren't as full featured as some of the monitors out there, like the compaq p910 i bought for $250 shipped )

Cool, I was hoping that it was a decent monitor, especially for the price, you can't beat it.
I would have expected higher refresh rates though since it's a high quality monitor and it's 21". 85hz just seems a bit low for 1600x1200 since many 19" monitors have that refresh as well for that resolution.

I couldn't make an order out before cause of problems on the website, but I just scored one with free shipping.
Any previous customer with an account can get free shipping on dfsdirect.ca now. I just saved ~$50!

It was sent to my dad's house on thursday (yesterday), but my dad wasn't around so he picked it up this morning at the terminal for me. He said it's in a huge box and it's pretty heavy so I'll have to go home to check it out soon. I don't know if it will fit on my desk now that I think about it. I have a 19" monitor on there now and there's lots of room left but I'm just not sure how much larger it is than my old 19".

I'm sure you will get yours soon Budman, cause they say 7-10 days and mine was ordered on the 13th and came on the 21st. I would say that if it's not there today, then it will probably be there Monday.

Edit: Wow, I didn't know you were in Toronto. Dfsdirect is supposedly in Ottawa right? I wonder why you didn't receive it yet cause you're alot closer than I am (on East Coast). Call them at 1-877-814-4142 to find out what happened.

I am actually in Ottawa but I think they ship it from Toronto.

Like they say 7-10 working days, it's only been 5 days so I figure early next week.

Let me know how it looks when you finaly get the beast setup, they say it's basicaly the same tube as a Sony CPD-F520 so It should look very nice.

I found some INF drivers for it too,so if you need them email me & I will send them.

Ah yes!
dfs
I have three monitors from them
p1110
p991
p990

the p990 is the 19" non-flat and sort of sucks .. it has a magenta hue to it which sucks because it's in a dual config with the P990 that has a very cool colour temp (blue)
The P990 is great though, stand alone the whites look white and the blacks are black, but next to a magenta hued monitor it looks too cool.
The p1110 I got for my dad cause he's an architect and does cad stuff .. anyways, that one sort of lacks contrast and it's hard to get black blacks with a bright screen, so I have to dim it down to get black and it lacks contrast .. still really nice, I'm wondering if I can warantee it.

For the folks who are stateside, www.merkortech has these same monitors available also fresh off lease for $299, as well as a really good selection of others. I am sitting here waiting on FedEX to drop my Sony G500 off that should be here today through them.

I found them through recomendations on this board. My sister bought a Hitatchi made Gateway .22mm pitch 19" last week, and she said hers looked absolutely as new.

- Just to follow up, my monitor came, and is in as-new condition. Looked it over pretty closely too. No signs of anything... After it warmed up and i adjusted it a bit it is pretty excellent. Definately as advertised. After only an hour or two, the size doesn't even seem so big... whether thats good or bad Ida no.

I got mine p1110 from dfs also, it took three monitors to get me satisfied though. The first two had color problems, and dfs was taking care of the shipping bill so i had no problem with that.
Third times a charm i guess

I'm writting this with my new P1110

With final adjustments made, getting the inf from HP and after warmup this puppy is nice. the Text is even more crisp than my NEC FE950+

I didn't get it from dfs I got it from rbcomputing for $525 Cdn. not bad.

I have a Dell 19" (I can't remember the model number off-hand) but it is basically a re-branded Trinitron and it's one of the best looking monitors I've ever seen.

Actually I forgot to say that this one came under the HP P1110 name. The Main difference between the two is that I have noticed that the Dell on the dfs doesn't indicated "FD" before the Trinitron while the HP one is the FD Trinitron. FD just stands for Flat Display but are you sure that the Dell one from dfs doesn't have FD ?
