Opinions on NEC laptops?

I'm considering buying a laptop, at a pretty good price...here are the specs:

64 MB RAM
4.0 GB Hard Drive
13.3" TFT Display
56k Modem
20x CD-ROM Drive
1.44 MB Floppy Drive
16 Bit Sound
Stereo Speakers
2 PCMIA Slots
AC Adapter
Lithium Ion Battery

Anyone have experience with NEC laptops? I used to love their monitors, but haven't bought anything from them in a long, long time. Recommendations?

My sister has one that sounds like that one, I believe it's a 5080 or something similiar. Never had trouble with it.
What's a good price? Warranty?

I haven't heard anything about a warranty. As soon as the guy writes back and lets me know that the price was correct, then I'll find out how long he'll guarantee it for.

If you can at least get a DOA warranty and there aren't any bad pixels or bad sectors, I would jump on it.
I just pulled one up on a search and they wanted $969.00 for it!

With a DOA warranty. He needs the money quick. Found him on E-bay, and he has 25 good referrals. Still getting all personal information to make sure everything works out. Any recommendations as to what I should ask for? I've already got home address, phone #, what else?

Is it an actual ongoing auction?
If it is then you have some fraud protection through eB@y
BillPoint and possibly BidPay offers some protection (I would check)
If he is a business you can pay by CC and get some protection that way.
A money-order is a minimum as he will have to sign it to cash it, creating evidence if needed.
Get a tracking number and make sure he sends it insured.
Get full name, address, code, phone#'s

If you are still talking to him make sure bad sectors and pixels are part of the DOA warranty.
