Opinions on PCI video card for dual output

Need some opinions. Running Win2K SP2. Primary card is AGP GF2 Ultra. My secondary card is a Viper V330 but the quality sucks ass, plus I had to disable all hardware acceleration in order to get it to display in color. Will an older card like a Matrox G200 give me similar problems? Should I go with something like a PCI GF2MX?

I have an ASUS V7100 AGP GF2MX with a 19" CRT and a ATI Xpert 98 PCI (Rage XL) with a 15" LCD. The quality is great and it works with no problems in Win2K. I could not, however, get Win98 working with this setup.

I have been using an old TNT2 pci card as my secondary display and it works great for me. If I were to replace it, though, I would go for a PCI GeForce MX. 2D quality should be just as good as a Matrox G200 plus you get continuous and good quality driver updates. If you've got an old G200 laying around, heck, use that, but definitely don't pay good dinero for a 4 year old video card just because of the name brand.

I've been using a Voodoo 3 3000 PCI with my dual monitor set up under both windows XP and 98 and it works out very well. No problems at all with either OS and the Voodoo's 2D is very nice.

I wouldn't use a Gforce2 MX, or any Gforce card for 2d. I have a MX200 and a 256DDR in two different rigs and both have sucky 2d compared to many other cards I've had/have. In my work rig, I use a Radeon LE and a PCI V3 2k. The Radeon replaced a G400 and I'd say the 2D on both are very close. The V3 2k blows away both of my Nvidia cards in 2d, but is not quite as clear as the Radeon at 1280 res and higher. My old G200 was even better than the V3, but not by much.

Hmmm, never considered Voodoo3. Would be using it strictly for 2D, I'll look into it. Thanks
