Opinions on this AMD Phenom Quad Core Combo?

This popped up one of the deal sites...I have been out of the build your own computer game for years..but this likes like a good candidate to replace my old Pentium IV Dell Dimension. Any opinions?

It'll be a good step up from your Pentium 4. But I'm gonna have to say no to that combo, because it is last generation technology. The Phenom X4 chips run hotter than Phenom II X4 chips despite being at lower clocks and generally much slower. Not to mention the socket is old and that motherboard is pretty awful in terms of features.

If you want a budget upgrade, get a cheap AM3 motherboard, cheap DDR3 RAM, and this cheap AM3 quad core. This way, even though costs a bit more, will give you a much faster and reliable machine, not to mention significantly better upgrade headroom in the future.
