Opinions Please - Anti-Noise Generation

Hi

This is not a plug, merely trying to guage public opinion and interest. I live in England and my company is close to completing a patent on a anti-noise generator for PC's. It is the size of a 3½" drive and fit into PC casing in the same way as a hard drive - power is fed my a standard 4 pin molex. This device will allow the user to put as many fans in the PC as you like with no irritating fan noise of any kind - a silent PC.

How many of you might be interested in such a product. We anticipate retail price to be in the region of £50 (UK). Our thinking is that this is not too much money more than a high qaulity heatsink/fan combination, but much cheaper than a water cooled system (and a hell of a lot easier to install). If feedback is positive, we'll make an approach to AnandTech to review a pre-production unit.

Thanks

Gaz

Do you have any specs just for a tease for us? That is IF you are legit on this issue with your company.

I would be definitly interested in one though.

Basicly, such device would "read" the incoming sound waves and output a wave that is 180 degrees off sync. That would cancel out 100% of the noise. I find it hard to believe that you can get rid of 100%, maybe more like 80% with some awesome software and extensive testing.

Even 50% less and I would buy one

could you imagion if it did not work? if it, infact, made more noise in the attempt to kill the noise. makeing double the noise level. Gahhh that would suck. but really it does sound interesting, imposible, but interesting. Why imposible you might ask?. To be blunt the thing would have to predict the All Sounds that are coming out. And if you have a unballanced fan the sounds that come out if it could be very random indead. Plus, this would not eleminate all sounds as some would escape the alternate sound and hence reaching your ears. Also what about an echo? It would distort the sound wave and create even more sound. Great if it works. but there are a lot of what if's in there that make it seem to good to be true.

I'm an experienced beta tester and would be willing to test one for you. I'd even wave my usual fee since you're a fellow AT'er.

I'd definitely buy one if it works.

Wow...if this works...and not even at a 100% but maybe 50-70%...you can put tons of Delta high rpm fans in your case and it'll sound like panaflos instead.

Only if it would kill 50% of the noise, it's going to be a big hit!
And I would certainly buy one!

I can create a (professional) website for the product in return for one of those babies! Hehe
