A local parts store is selling 17GB Fujitsu Hard drives (MPE3173AE)..
Summary of specs:
5400rpm
UDMA 66
Areal density: 6.43GB per square inch
512KB buffer
avg seek time: 9.5ms
I'm just not sure about fujitsu HD's and whether this is a "good bang for the buck". THe place is selling it for $143 Canadian, which is about $100 US. I've read from a couple of places that 5400rpm isn't much slower than a 7200 rpm HD if the areal density is high. In this case it's quite high...
opinions?
