Opinions wanted of Crucial M225 SSDs

I just received an email from Crucial saying that they are going to have a sale on refurbished M225 SSDs for $1 per megabyte. How do these SSDs compare to the competition? In looking at one review of SSDs, it looks very middling at best. Also should one be leery of buying a "refurbished" SSD? Don't the performance of these degrade over time? Having said that, would using one of these as a boot drive "blow away" my WD black edition? I would be tempted to get a 128 GB for $128 but then again don't want to feel like a few months down the road, gee I wish I would have waited/bought brand X instead.

They use Indilinx controllers I believe. Not going to be able to keep up with the performance of a SandForce drive, but nothing to scoff at either, they're decently fast.

Also, when they have these refurb drives they sell out very quickly, so don't hesitate.

I personnally have a 64gb version installed and it is really fast. I can't compare with Sandforce-based drives (don't own one myself) but you will notice the increase in performance compared to mechanical HDDs. And, at 1$ per GB, this is a very good deal.

Do you think the drives will come just as a bare notebook sized drive or will they have provisions for mounting in a desktop hard drive cage? Also I have an AMD AM2 mb with a Phenom II X4, running windows 7 x64. Will there be compatibility issues with the older mb?

Crucial m225 256gb (New), i got was an basic white 2.5 box inside that an ssd thats inside an brake apart plastic box (not an sealed box can clicked back together)

SSD should just work like any other HDD, if there is an problem it be an problem with an motherboard (there are 100 of AM2 mobos) not the CPU or OS that you posted, its an Phenom II so cpu so motherboard must be new to take that any way so motherboard should be good

I didn't pull the trigger but when I checked an hour after the sale started, they were all gone. I do see that for today only Newegg is offering the Intel X25-M 120 GB for $200. This is a much better drive, correct? I really wanted to hold off until tax return in Feb but is this price worth getting now?

This has been said numerous times, but during everyday real world usage, you WILL NOT be able to tell the difference between the low budget JMicron 61x, indilinx, intel G1, G2, Toshiba and Sandforce. They will benchmark differently, but otherwise...
