I've been out of the hardware loop for quite a while so another opnion would be nice on the setup below. This system is for a family friend. Currently it's a temporary setup and some things may be changed but for a general idea this is the config I came up with. I know they may not need all the power the config has, but if they go through a major retailer they would be paying close to the same amount for much less of a system Anything need changing or is the current setup good to go?

XP Pro is $60 more expensive. The slight differences between the two isn't worth a $60 price difference.

For better performance at probably about the same price, change the MB to a 865PE chipset board, the CPU to a 2.4C, and use two sticks of 256M PC3200. This will give you much improved memory performance over the setup you have and really opens up the bandwidth of the P4. The improvement is due to:

2.4C runs at 200Mhz FSB versus 133 for the one you chose
the 865PE board uses dual channel memory architecture

As an alternative, you can use an AMD setup at a lower cost - look into the Shuttle AN35-NU and the XP2500+ barton.

All the other stuff looks just fine.
