I definitely will see Oppenheimer but not in a theater. I hate going to the movies. People, phone, distractions. I will get on 4k BR when released and watch at home on my 75" tv. I haven't been to the movies since the last star wars movie and was greatly disappointed.

If you live close to an IMAX 70mm film theater you might consider seeing it in that format. I'm not sure if 4k will have the aspect ratio, and if not some of the bigger scenes will be cropped.

Finally seen Oppenheimer. Kinda what I expected. Long film, too long. They could have/should have cut down on the first part. Condensed the first half down, up to where Oppenheimer is first visited by Matt Damon. The performances were stellar however the film felt like it was tossed together like a chefs salad.

I would love to see this same movie with the same cast but produced and directed by someone else. Maybe Ron Howard. This was a project that should have gone to someone like Ron Howard. I also think Ang Lee could have made a better product than Christopher Nolan.
Something just seemed off with how the film mixed or portrayed the technical aspects of the theme with the personal aspects and the consequences of the characters.
The film seemed like a painting where the artist lacked constancy with lighting in arrangement of the objects.

I guess I'll have to give it another chance when it is available to stream.

Now streaming on Peacock if you were roped into subscribing to watch a NFL playoff game and forgot to cancel.

Edit:
Re-watched Oppenheimer over a couple nights; obviously it's going to win a lot of Oscars. In a way, the home experience is better than IMAX because the acoustics aren't rattling your gray matter. And either my memory is even worse than I thought, or at the theater I dozed off a few minutes as they were prepping the Trinity test.

One thing I noticed is there are a lot of characters (scientists) all over the place. If you don't know them going in, it'll be overwhelming until you study it later. The physicist Richard in the film is CalTech's Richard Tolman. Not Richard Feynman, who was a young grad student at the time, and appears somewhere in the film but I don't recall when.

Finally, Peacock Premium is NOT an ad-free tier. However for movies it seems they play a long ad segment (nearly 3 mins) at the beginning, which you can ignore. Then no ads during the feature. Even if you hit pause and walk away for a while, it won't greet you with an ad when you resume.

If anyone finds a clip online of the "maybe they weren't talking about you" scene which include's RDJ's reaction, I'd like to see it again please. The only ones I've found don't include his flinch after the rest of the line.
