I think so. I am running 3 optys(2 146s, 1 144) all of them overclock better than my venices (which are history now - sold off in ebay). All three of my cpu run at 1.55v and overclocks upto at least 2.83ghz (one of them goes to 2.93ghz) without much sweat. Basically a near Fx-57 for sub $160 given the correct combination of motherboard and cooling.

Just wanted to add, many stores are not able to get their hands on these, so if you want one better get it while its on stock. I heard the tankguys were saying they could not get a hold of anymore of these even though they had contacted many distributors (please correct me if I am wrong). There are some rumor that AMD might stop selling these at retail stores, in other works these might follow the path of Sempron 939 and end up only in OEM machines (HP, Sun etc).

Actually that's older packaging, which AMD stopped using about a year or two ago. Monarch seems like too lazy to update that

I should have ordered this last night or early this morning. I left a print-out of the order form for my wife to buy this cpu for me for X-mas. And I noted on the print-out that these sell out fast and/or the prices go up rapidly.

Looks like I'll get yet more socks, flannal pjs and such for x-mas rather than the things I'd actually really like

Maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised...

Thanks. I just jumped on the ChiefValue one for $180 shipped + taxed to California.

I was hesitating on one of these, but they seem to be getting scarce. I've missed so many deals already, that I was all over this one. I'm hoping for an easy 2.4ghz+ on stock cooling & voltage. Any more than that'll be gravy.
