Seems like everyone, including myself, is getting CABNE0544 EPMW, with the new, and probably final shipment of 144's.

Got my 144 - CABNE 0544 from ChiefValue yesterday (ordered on Dec. 2).

I had one of the only Celeron 300a's that wouldn't overclock to 450 back in the day, so my karma is whole again.

Is my Thermalright XP90 sufficient for decent overclocking? Or is there a better HSF in the $30-40 range?

For now, test it with stock HSF and stock heat sink compound.
The 144 and 146 I tested were both using stock HSF, and heat was never a problem (42C-52C at 300x10 w/146 or 300x9 w/144).

TD nailed me on that as well. I ordered a 146 that was listed as in stock, 2 days later it said 7 to 21 days. I called them and was told they had a bunch due in on 12/09 and mine would ship then, it still hasn't shipped. Bottom line, they don't have any and prolly never will.

Like i mentioned in Processor Forum that AMD is continuing its socket 939 Opteron's shipping again. That will bring the price down, and make it available. Patience is the key.

I ordered one from buy.com 2 weeks ago, when I had to use a 10% coupon, and it was backordered. Just this morning they emailed me stating that no Opteron 144's could be found yet, and they were still looking. It is same retail part as this one they now show in stock.

Which way is the mistake? I am "guessing" they do NOT have these in stock, and webpage is a mistake, while personal email from them is correct?.?.

EDIT: just noticed they changed buy.com sku # on this cpu from two weeks ago.

Could also just be buy.com. Ive ordered items in the past that went out of stock, when they come back in, buy.com changes the item# so it is nolonger the same item to them. Order ends up sitting at warehouse for months, never completes. Ordering from them is like gambling.

One of the big national distributors is showing stock due in today and tomorrow with low quantity (30-40) at all of their warehouses. Expect to see the resellers getting at least limited quantities in the near future.
