Now says $143 before shipping (or ~$151 with UPS ground to Canton, MI).

just grabbed one for $159 shipped ($4 more than a 3000+). glad i waited out the panic.

I ordered a 146 on sunday when they were in stock at mwave, got a tracking number yesterday and should be here next tuesday.

Looks like the 146 is back in stock, but they upped the price. I hope this doesnt start again.

IMO...seems like "TankGuys" was the main reason for most of the "panic" regarding supply of optys drying up at the retail level. If a guy gives out (once or twice) information which doesn't pan out...no big deal. But to make an effort to widely spread a piece of informtion which is incorrect is another matter.

That was the information I had at that time, and it's stil possible. That's still the tune my AMD rep was singing as of last week. Obviously, may of us retailers are continuing to get retail shipments, which is great. I hope it continues, as it's great for all of us. I hope that doesn't change, and I was trying to freak anyone out... but at the time it seemed very likely and I wanted to let people know.

I thought the Opties were supposed to be almost gone. Now, after I ordere a 148 for $234 shipped (got a great stepping though) I find that they're available again as 144's and 165's? What gives?

We don't do pickups, since we don't have a store front... so even for MI orders, it's just standard shipping, plus the 6% sales tax.

As for availability questions on this, yea, they are/were supposed to go away. I'm just as confused... my reps are all telling me different things. So who knows?

A. Does the Opteron 144 (socket 939) overclock better than the Venice 3000 64?
B. Do they both use a 9x multiplier (200MHz FSB stock)?
C. Do they share the same thermal output?
D. Do they share the same core voltage?
E. Will any 939 board work with the Opteron 144?
F. Is OSA144DAA5BN the non-boxed version of the Opteron 144 (socket 939)? What about warranty? Why only 1 year?
G. Per AMD the Opteron has an HT speed of 1000MHz. The Athlon 64 has an HT speed of 2000MHz. Is this a typo or just different way of wording the HT speed?

Ok...thanks for confirming. Basically an AMD 64 with larger cache. I believe the MAX thermal output of the Opteron 144 is 71C per the AMD website. Still a decent deal at $127 with free shipping for the no-box version.

hey guys, i have an e3 venice that can do 2.6-2.7 on high volts......do u think a cab2e or a cacje 144 would do better than my venice> considering it has higher cache? thanks a lot
