Because of good prices.... Also this is what you call a "hot-deal". Meaning, many many people get in on the deals and they get flooded with orders and get back ordered. Thats why. I know it sucks because they get back ordered and their site still says "in-stock". My 146 still hasnt even shipped yet and I ordered last weekend. : / Go ahead with zoomfly you wont find prices for opterons even close to monarchs.

I got mine last Friday from Tankguys.com. At that time the 146's were $194+ shipping for the retail version. One thing about them is you don't have to wait for them to ship the item. I ordered on Friday afternoon and got a "tracking number" email on Sunday afternoon. It takes Monarch a week most of the time to ship stuff out in my experience.

I ordered a 165 on Sunday and it was still processing until Tuesday evening around9pm. Now I've got a tracking number and it should be somewhere between KS and GA about now. I think I'll have it in my hands tomorrow...

Newegg's 3 day shipping will have the motherboard here a day before Monarch's 2 day priority shipping! And I ordered the mobo a day later than the CPU....too bad the coupons aren't good elsewhere

Well I ordered on Sunday as well, and mine hasn't left the 'processing' stage. I called and asked about it, and they said something about needing to verify my billing information before they could ship it. It would've been awesome if they actually called or emailed me to tell me about this. I am guessing they would of never even shipped my order if I didn't call. As it is now they said it should go out tomorrow. Lame service.

I ordered last Friday and I called twice only to find out its still out of stock. The website needs to have real time inventory.

I called about 3 hours back and it "should be leaving tonight" which is what they told me last night. I posted on hardforums about it and the monarch deal guy SWEARS its in stock....which is complete bullshit.

Okay thanks. The CS lady on the phone said it would ship tomorrow, so I guess I will wait until then before posting.

Off-topic but I will answer with apologies. Conroe is the next dual core cpu from intel which has a similar architechture of the dual core mobile cpus named yonah. They are amazing for gaming according to AT review. Conroes are estimated to be shipped Q3 of 2006, thats long way from now. Most of us will probably go through 2-3 cpus by then.

Its intels new dual-core chip. Aparently with the preliminary benchmarks showed the 2.66ghz intel chip spanked the x2 3800 @ 2.7ghz. Which is pretty amazing if that holds to be true. Ill be switching to intel dual-core by that time if it is true.

This is part of the reason I havnt gone to an amd 165 dual-core yet. Im planning on keeping my opty 144 for a while.

I ordered a 150 from Monarch early Tuesday morning. I just checked and it's still not shipped. Sorry Monarch, but taking over two days to process an order is unacceptable. I cancelled.

I guess I'll hold on to my A64 3200+ a little longer...
