IMO the 170 is a better deal at $189 for those planning to OC (and who buys an Opteron that doesn't OC it?) considerign you get a 10x multiplier. The 9x on the 165 keeps me from getting one of those.

Nice. The Opteron 148 and 150 are nearly comparable to San Diego pricing. Wait, the San Diego 4000+ is $209 on Newegg, so the Opty 150 is a HOT deal at $125 seeing as they're basically the same thing!!! The Opteron 152 at $163 is better than the Athlon FX 55 at $239, except the FX has unlocked multipliers. Who cares when the CPU has a 13X multiplier. Also, the same $163 Opty 152 is $410 at Newegg!??!?!? OMG.

I've shopped the Athlons, but not the Opterons. Can someone post a brief summary of the Opteron for a gaming PC, compared to the Athlon single or dual core?

Opterons are similar to 1 MB cache X2's. They tend to overclock higher, but otherwise they are identical.

Local internet cafe Phoenix Gaming is planning to expand and get more systems, and were planning on using those $60 (retail box, shipped price) A64 3000+ chips from Newegg. If y'all upgrading to Opterons want to dump your A64 for cheap, lemme know. They don't even have to be good overclockers or anything, just really inexpensive. PM me. Hmmm, perhaps I should put this in FS/FT as a WTB.
