Optical cables hard to plug in?

So I'm setting everything up now and for the life of me I cannot get the optical cable to plug into the TV. It looks like it should fit, but it doesn't snap in or anything. I push pretty hard and it still won't stay and I don't feel any kind of 'click'.

I'm lining the ridges up and everything, but maybe I'm missing something. I didn't think it would be that hard.

Upon further inspection, it was discovered they have little plastic caps on the front of the cable to protect the end. Heh.

There's no cap on the end of the wire is there? It should go right in with little effort.

hehe, another falls to the dustcaps. Easy mistake.

Also, the connector should have a firm click when it is properly seated.

I have a problem getting them off of my receiver. The damn things won't pull out. They pop out without incident on every other device.

On some devices they aren't really caps but are spring-loaded flaps instead. They fold out of the way as you push the TOS connector into the port.

The problem wasn't on any of the devices, but on the actual optical cables. The cables themselves had little plastic bulbs on the ends of them to protect the optical ends.

Me too. Because I did the same thing with my first optical cable. Took me a quite a while to figure out the problem too.

My optical audio cable wont go in and I have caps off. there really is a problem with these things.i have a real problem I’d like to address. I want an answer to mine. I’ll bet nobody has it. No joking here. I wish my problem was like yours.

It only goes in one way. Are you sure that you are lining it up right?

yes it’s only so easy and obvious . I see exactly the bigger flat side smaller square part. Are there 2 or 3 diffeent sizes of these things ? My mistake if I didn’t know that. Just won’t go in and snap and stay in. Don’t get it . Staying with rca cable I guess.
