If you focus on the two squares long enough you can break your mind's image optimization and see them as the same shade of gray.

One thing that helps is that if you cover up everything above the bottom foot, it should appear that the bottom foot is just going back and forth. Without any definition to the foot you can't tell if you are looking at the front or back. So just uncover the image when the foot is turning in the direction you want to see the dancer turning.
