Optical Mice and Mouse Pads

Hello,

I am looking for a smooth small regular sized mouse pad for my Logitech Optical mouse. My other mousepad, a staples mouse pad, is the cloth kind and my mouse doesnt work well on it. I asked the people over at Hardocp.com and they just kept telling me to saw off a ratpad. (Yeah right.) Does anyone have any suggestions? I need a regular sized mousepad that works well with Logitech optical mice. Thanks.

its not like you need someting that repels dust/dirt...

I find the two best things about optical mice are not having to clean them and not having to use a mousepad. I use mine right on the desktop surface and it works fine, even while gaming.

I tried not using a mouse pad when I first got my optical mouse and it didnt work very well... the mouse pointer would skip if I move the mouse to quickly...

so I just slip my old old mousepad under it (just a regular cloth one, 1 color) and it works perfectly...

I guess for optical mouse, u would want a mousepad that doesnt reflect much light...

well doesnt the mice operate like a camera? the ccd takes 'snapshots' and translate that into position? so im guessing u want to use it on something that doesnt DEFLECT light.

so those pads with holographic pics are probably bad... mine works on all surfaces, though. right now its just on the Kb board with laminate wood

Optical mice work better on the right surface,my desk is reflective so not very good for my optical mouse,I use the Allsop blue raindrop mouse pad which is cheap and works well for me.

Many people don`t try different surfaces when they get their optical mouse thinking just using the desktop will be fine,the optical sensor works better with certain surfaces and colour so it`s wise to try out different things.

I've got a few of those, and they're not bad at all.

I'm using an Everglide attack pad at the moment. Works ok, the only problem is that it tends to slide under the keyboard.

I reviewed both of those, as well as the Ratpadz and Ice Mat here. The site is down at the moment, though.

Anyone using an optical mouse on a Creative DAP mouse pad?

Got a couple of those with my Audigy and I really like them but from what I've read in these forums it might not be very good for optical mice as it has a kinda shiny grainy plastic surface.

black gloss plexi doesn't work either

but i like to use an everglide or something similar because it moves better than on the desk. but dammit, my everglide has worn out so much in two years... need to find me a replacement.. but that won't cost me like $20.. heh.

Got the Logi Duo and after about five mins worth of use it seems to work very well on the DAP pad.

Now all I got to do is get used to an optical mouse after twelve years with the ball ones.
