Why are you constantly changing out hardware?

Because he can! I upgraded something in my computer ~ every six month in the late 90's and early 2000's (not including software). So I had a completely new system about every 18 months. Eh, life was good back then

Seems OP to play console ports. I'm still wondering why I moved off GTX 580 (other than power and thus less noise needed to cool my loop)

Ajay - times were way differnt in 2000. Hardware couldn't keep up with pretty much any software as opposed to today where $1000 computers can run the most demanding software and games. We can even play Crysis today.

I have to disagree. My 6870 struggles in Battlefield 3, Witcher 2, Crysis 2 and Anno 2070 at 1080p. I simply can't justify upgrading when I don't game nearly as much as I used to.

I upgrade a lot too, but it's usually when the next gen parts come out.

It seems like he has more lateral moves in hardware than actual upgrades.

2x 670s to a 690 is more of a lateral move and a substantial cost increase. Especially since his 670 was free. Running at 1080p will inherit absolutely no difference in performance. I was thinking about going SLI 670s but my single FTW works so good alone, I think I will just leave it alone until a game comes along where it needs the extra zip.

I just like playing with new pieces. Its not like i'm downgrading

If i was going from 670's to 680's then i could expect some disagreement but i'm moving up to a 690. Yeah it'll perform about the same but it's a 690 for christ sake

Bah.. its so easy to make a monster setup when your case is massive.

Try packing the most power in the smallest case.

Almost packed sli gtx670s into my old antec 300 with a overclocked i7 3770 but when i was at frys purchasing the parts,i saw the df-85 and just fell in love with it and purchased it.

Gonna have to either replace the front 3 fans with a couple 120cfm+ delta fans or attempt my fate at water cooling soon enough, top card is a stubborn assh*le to keep under 70,blame turbo boost for such madness.:awe:

3770k may bottleneck your 690 a little in bf3. You should have held onto your SB-E imo.

I'm actually thinking about building a SFF rig just because there are some really nice small cases now that can accomodate 10-12 inch cards

Heck yes, SUGO 8, with a 600W PSU, room for a 690.

I've just moved to Europe for work, thats why i built this small rig recently, took it on a plane with me as carry on luggage. It's pretty damn small and <6kg total. The sg5 easily fits a gtx680.

2600k@4.8 bottlenecked 2x7970s. Could very well be the pcie 2.0 restriction though.

It's the latest (Beta therefore non WHQL) driver from nvidia. Everyone is getting that squawk. No mind, everything is fine I suppose.

Next up is getting the customized hydrocopper version with 1300MHz clocks (special bios) that is not volt locked.

Don: If you still haven't made your mind up about your case choice can i suggest a Lian Li? I have a PC-a71a and it works a treat, but it is 4 or 5 years old now.

Its a mess as i have been playing the last few days. Enough room down the side of the HDD cage for cable managment. Also room behind the mobo tray.

PS i might have to get 2 more 7970's and see how they go. Shame my 1090T would probably bottleneck the hell out of them.
