Ordered PS3

I was dead set against controller vs. Mouse/KB combo until I played Call of Duty: Modern Warfare/World At War. I'll Never go back now.

I'd still prefer kb/mouse but COD:MW made console fps games playable for me

SF4 is a good game i picked it up yesterday. first time i played my PS3 since i got it in december.

Valkyria Chronicles - This game is fantastic, get it. Final Fantasy Tactics meets WW2 (although it's a little childish at times)

Resistance 1 and 2 - Very fun FPS games

MGS4 - Very fun, probably the best in the series

so with the Rock Band and Guitar Hero games, which is better?

Both of them support full band play now if you get GH:WT or newer. While there are certainly minor mechanics differences between the games, I would use your taste in music as your main guide. GH tends to run a bit heavier, RB a bit more mainstream. GH does Metallica, RB does Beatles. Upside to RB is that when you download additional songs you can use it in all of the games, not the case with GH which if you buy a song for say GH3, you can only use it in GH3.

Speaking strictly on personal choice, I like GH better overall, mainly due to the heavier nature of the music.

For the shooters, set the difficulty to complete nub mode until you get you head around the controls. I know, it doesn't matter if you chuckle at Nightmare on the PC, you didn't start there with a mouse and keyboard, have to give yourself a bit of a learning curve. If you are like me, you will never be close to as good with a controller as you are with Mouse/KB, but I still can handle most of the shooters on a console at the highest difficulty setting without too much trouble. You will want to brush up and get decent before you hop into MP, console MP you deal with slower reactions, nature of the controls, but there is still the factor that a live player is way the hell better then any NPC you are going to run into.

ok, why is it that in most games, you only get to see like 2 feet around your character? i have a 42" wide screen tv and i can't see crap...genji, ninja gaiden, mgs 4 all do this...

Some games have shitty cameras, others you have to manage constantly, still others everything works just fine. Normally reviews cover this and if it really bothers you, keep that in mind when looking at any potential game.

used games are fine too.

i'd recommend Ratchet and Clank, Uncharted, and Resistance 2. Oh and Street Fighter 4.

one of the reviews i saw for MGS4 said it was better than the previous ones in gameplay. Guess I'll find out.

mgs4 seems overly complicated but i haven't played it so i dunno.

sf4 is a must. it's the only game i have pretty much for the ps3

Guitar Hero: World Tour is comparable to Rock Band as it uses drums, two guitars, and a microphone. The other Guitar Hero games just use the guitar.

I struggled with the decision between which game to get and read a lot of reviews on them. Most of the reviews came to the same conclusion: Rock Band 2 is a better game than GHWT, but GHWT comes with better hardware. I recently picked up the GHWT band kit, and I already had a second guitar from GH3. I plan to eventually pick up Rock Band and Rock Band 2 and use the GHWT hardware with those.

replaced the 80 GB HD with a 320 GB today. I had to copy the latest update onto a cd before it would let me format the system and restore my backup. Went fairly well, just took a bit of time.

I also now own MGS4, Pure, and Flower. I have a $20 gift card to wal-mart so i was thinking of heading there and see what they have in the bargain bin. I may just get a new game and take $20 off if they don't have anything in the bargain bin.
