Ordering cola at restaurants...

The SO will turn away restaurants because they have Pepsi. On the other hand, I couldn't care any less what drink I get. In fact, I usually only get water because I'm cheap.

When I visited Baltimore, every time I ordered Coke, they brought me Pepsi without asking

I almost always get water instead if it's gonna be Pepsi.

If I plan on getting smashed on Jack and Coke later on at that establishment, yes, it's critical information to know.

At home, I drink Coke. When I'm out, it doesn't really matter, its not like I head out to freakin resteraunts to drink the damn soda.

I rarely drink soda outside of the home. I choose iced tea (no lemon, you slacker) about 95% of teh time. Diet Coke the other 5%.

Both companies are very, shall we say, dedicated to their brand. Our Coke rep absolutely refuses to ever touch any Pepsi product (even their bottled water).

I know a guy who worked for Pepsi before he retired. He told me that they won't even use red pens there - that's Coke's color.

This really shouldn't be a pet peeve. Imagine you asked for Mountain Dew and they brought you Mello Yello.

It's not the same. It's correct for the server to ask if Pepsi is OK because they would be bringing you something other than what you asked for.

Coke does not equal cola. Coke equals Coke.

On campus, Coke loyalty is pretty high. The Pizza Hut on campus is the only one in the world serving Coke.

I mean how many people out there ask for a Coke, hear they only have Pepsi...cringe and order something else. Are people really that anal over these two cola brands?

My mom. Pepsi tastes very different from Coke to her. It's probably because she's from out of America.

I order coke, if they mention pepsi, I change my order to Mountain Dew. If they have RC Cola then that's my first choice, but there's only a few places that I know of that have RC instead of Coke or Pepsi.

I actually prefer Mountain Dew over Coke, (But Coke far above Pepsi) but Coke seems to be the dominating brand in most restaurants around here, so Coke is my deefault order rather than Mountain Dew.

#1 super bad error - you didn't specify if this is for diet or regular cola. For regular I don't care -- it tastes close enough for me. But I normally drink diet Coke and diet Pepsi tastes like the arse of Satan. Both no doubt taste horribly chemical but I'm used to Coke's chemicals and can enjoy the diet cola. Not so with diet Pepsi. Now I'm not the kind of person that will get all bent out of shape -- I'll drink some diet Pepsi -- but I'd prefer some other diet beverage over it.

Edit: My tastes buds for colas were refined by working for an ISP for a couple years that had free soda! The days of Diet Dew and Coke were very nice if somewhat too caffeinated!

pepsi tastes like malted battery acid. down here in the south if they don't have coke they'll tell you and give you the opportunity to change. up in yankeeland, they just give you that craptastic pepsi, in my experience.
