Another top level Intel executive quits. I think Intel is not a very desirable place to work nowadays. Looks like canard pc article about Intel is slowly coming true. I think there are going to be a lot more layoffs over the next couple of years.

"I am excited for Kim as she embarks on her next journey, but find it difficult to see a strong leader leave," Renduchintala wrote. He said he is looking at options for filling her role."

It's not just "another top level Intel executive", this is the head of the PC group, mobile group, and IoT group.

We all know their mobile efforts are basically dead so . . . no big deal there, right? But PCs and IoT? What's really going on here? Also she's a woman, so their diversity initiative takes a hit.

Hopefully Francois Piednoel is shown the door as well.

Aww but you know you love his Twitter feed. Right?

Ok... Seems that Mobile (ATOM) got a critical hit few days ago and now this? Intel seems that wants to kill the Atom family because they are losing key people from that area.
PC is still strong, so no problem

The IOT area is the one I am worrying... Seems that Intel slept on their clouds and now ARM woke them up.

Francois is just a "benchmark engineer". I think he just sits and runs benchmarks on computer systems all work day. He's almost like a comic relief in a movie.

That's not what a performance engineer does. Not even close.

Here is a job listing at Intel for an HPC performance architect:

You will be part of HPC system architecture and pathfinding team developing leading edge HPC technologies. Responsibilities include simulation and analytic modeling of parallel applications, and studying how proposed new CPU architecture and network features impact application performance and power consumption.

HPC Workloads: understanding workload behavior including instruction mixes, memory footprint and cache behavior, floating point and vector characteristics, multithreading and distributed memory characteristics including (but not limited to) MPI, OpenMP and emerging programming models.

Simulation: using several different simulators, including Asim-based microarchitectural simulators, and Sniper-based multicore simulators, Intel’s SDE software development emulator, and others. Analyzing simulator output including stats files, pipe traces, and other output. Preparing simulator input including trace files, execution state snapshots, binary executables and their inputs and setup scripts.

Performance and Power Analysis: Preparing simulation result data for presentation. Analyzing a variety of simulation and analytic data, and correlating results from different tools and simulators.

But serious. Its a freakshow.

Do you want your servers running on that?

I understand freedom of speech and very much respect Intel for the policy but this is just way to unprofessional for my taste. Its like he is in a forum fights at AT. Talk about your own products qualities. Less fun...granted. So lets enjoy him while we can. Its refreshing.

When is their ceo quitting.
At latest q2 next year.

I dont think he is the right man....ehh woman. But its no easy task either.

Go look at 7nm cost. Amd can share it with the rest of the world.

Intel should beat amd now. When the wsa runs out and euv 5 nm is at full steam its not going to get easy.

The only way BK will end up, uh, "deciding to spend more time with his family" is if Intel's financial performance basically tanks and the BoD determines that it's pretty much his fault. Under BK, Intel's financials have been fine, so there's little incentive to find somebody else.

Nope. Even a bod can tell numbers from actual performance.

Look at BK. Its not only about competences for a new market situation and the need for new strategic partnership and the profile to make them. He is just not comfortable in this ceo position.

When 10 process node is delayed and lacking and this should be his expertice he will be held responsible. Like Dirk Meyers of bd failure. It will just be a bad excuse. He is a good man. Just the wrong place at the wrong time imo.

Pretty sure the BoD drinks the same kool-aid that BK and the rest of senior management does.

Preaching to the choir, I am no fan of BK.

I agree with the bolded.

Amd is going to unleash graphene on intel and enter the matrix.
