Maybe I'm missing something, but has a single parent sent their 18+ year old child to die in Iraq? Don't you have to be 18 and "choose" to enlist in the armed forces? There was no draft, and no "children", under the age of 18, it was all adults, have died in Iraq, no Americans serving in the armed forces anyway.

And Moore's refusal to admit George Bush did NOT lie is silly. Maybe the definition of a lie I've known for my whole life is not accurate. If you have definite knowledge contrary to what you are communicating as the truth, then that is a lie. You cannot lie when you are passing on information portrayed as accurate from another source(s) whom you have no valid reasons to question, since lying is something you're concious of. Or you'd have to be concious of the lie if you were deserving of any guilt associated with "lying".

Thank you. :thumbsup: That's what I kept thinking while reading that transcript. Every single enlisted soldier knows what he/she is getting into when they sign up. It's not a 4-year vacation. It's hard work and the very real possibility that you will have to kill someone or take the chance of getting killed yourself. All by the direct orders of the Commander in Chief. And for volunteering for this job, you get the respect of the American people, as well as a stipend and such.

Why aren't people clamoring that 'they are sending our children to die" when firefighters are killed in the line of duty? Or police officers? Do they really believe that there are unmarked vans driving around our neighborhoods, snatching 12-year-olds off the street and sending them to Iraq? It's a job. A very important job. And I am very grateful to *all* those that choose this job. Thank you.

What I don't get is some enlist to get benefits fromjoining the military but when they are told to do what they've enlisted and paid to do. They go and whine about not wanting to go. This is not meant to all the men and women of the arm forces. We have some real heros in our country but there are some that try to take advantage of our countries resources but not willing to put in their part of the deal.

Many of the people in the armed forces, are in because it is the only economically feasible way for them to get out of poverty. I'm not going to say they were forced into it, but the Army is an extremely attractive option for many.
