Does anyone happen to know a website that has oriental writing. I wanted to get a few translations in either japanese or chinese. If anyone has a url that would be great. Thanks

but there are several asian languages you could ask for by name.

actually, oriental is a correct word to use in this context. oriental shouldn't be used in referring to people, but for other things it's okay.

bad way to put it.. if you look at asian writing for a while, its easy to tell them apart japanese has simpler shapes.. cchinese is the normal "oriental" writing you see..korean looks like someone whipped out rulers and started drawing squares.. err the rest is modified english basically.

needless to say.. if u want to translate something, you'd better know what it is

quick and dirty way to distinguish korean from chinese and japanese: look for circles.

For one thing it's correct to refer to it as &quot;oriental&quot; writing and another my nationality is japanese. And if you notice in the post it says either japanese writing or chinese. Thanks for those links stndn.

at least the chinese site is quite accurate. but of course, if you want better accuracy, get an &quot;oriental&quot; bf/gf

i'd say chinese is a more &quot;oriental&quot; writing, because of the beautiful calligraphy they have (depends on who's writing it, though ).
these writings are mostly used to represent the asian writings, and thus the &quot;oriental&quot; tag

btw, the new (simplified) chinese is not elegant. of course i still prefer the traditional, elegant chinese characters (used heavily in chinese calligraphy class)

Oriental writing is not the correct form of refering to the languages of asia. Thats like saying &quot;Script languages&quot; refering to sancscript, arameic and arabic, or saying &quot;Roman languages&quot; and referring to greek, latin and germanic all because they use the roman alphabet? bah.
