Origin Summer Sale: Battlefield 3 for $5, and other games up to 70% off

Seems that Origin has preempted Steam's summer sale and is throwing their own sale. Biggest discount is Battlefield 3, which is going for $5. Other sales include Mass Effect 3 for $10, Tomb Raider for $25, and Crysis 3 for $20. Sale lasts until June 19. I may just pick up Battlefield 3 if it's that low and since I can't get it on Steam.

If you're not in at launch, the best time is on one of these big sale periods when a lot of other noobs are coming in.

No... Go buy an AMD Never Settle Reloaded voucher off of ebay and get Crysis 3, Bioshock Infinite, and Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon for that (or maybe a little more).

edit: as far as the game itself goes... if you like the other two (I do) you'll enjoy the third one also. It would certainly be worth $20, but the AMD voucher thing sort of devalued it.

Huh? BF2 didn't have a good SP, it just had stupid bots you could play against instead of real people. Did you actually like that or are you thinking of BC2?

I'm guessing BF3 premium won't be that cheap until BF4 really gets rolling; fwiw $20 for BF3 premium edition is a pretty great price, I'm fairly certain that's the base game with all of the DLC packs included for just $20. However "premium edition" is different from the "premium service", one is base game + DLC and one is just the DLC, so make sure you're getting the right one.

Also I'd say I've experienced very little hacking/aimbotting in BF3. Though I wouldn't be surprised if they stick mostly to "normal" mode instead of "hardcore" so that may explain it too.

The skill ceiling in BF3 isn't as high as you might think. If you're halfway decent at FPS games, and you spent any time at all in Bad Company 2 or any other Battlefield game, then you'll be fine.

Plus a lot of people are plain terrible.
Half of it (depending on gametype, somewhat) is learning the maps as much as anything, same for any FPS game.

thats cuz teams are never balanced.. or rarely are...

Ive had more games where i either sat and did nothing cuz of some hacker sniper killing everyone outside FOV even..

OR..

We were stuck at base camp cuz idiots decided it was more fun to shoot each other even tho FF is OFF.... just cuz its funny listening to the team rant.


I gave up on BF series... because the good balanced games are about as rare as you getting a legendary drop in a MMO.

Seriously, (not a bash against origin itself) with as often as Origin screws up and ends up making that reusable coupon that ends up making most of their catalog free, I'm not sure why anyone actually bothers to PAY them a dime anymore.
