Have you figured out how much you pay for a gallon of any liquid material soda/ perfume/ cough syrup etc, You will see that you pay a lot more for those liquids than you do gas.

BTW, how long does a gallon of cough syrup, soda, perfume, etc. last in your household? A gallon of gas will last me about one day.
I don't get 250 miles/gallon. Sorry.Originally posted by: FuzzyBee
Perhaps you shouldn't drive as much. Carpooling and biking are great!Originally posted by: conjur

Gas prices will keep going up until something happens politically that causes the price to go down. If the liberals in washington wont allow us to build more refineries then prices will be higher...if we can't drill in the gulf or in alaska prices will be higher. Demand is at an all time high, refining capacity here in the US is above 93% and there's no sign of it softening.

I love these idiotic comparisons like this. They crack me up.

Just trying to bring that comparison into the proper perspectiveOriginally posted by: FuzzyBee
Perhaps you should have said that in the first place, rather than obfuscating the discussion withI don't get 250 miles/gallon. Sorry.

MUCH more of a necessity. People tend to require something like 15-20 gallons per week of gasoline. FAR less than the other items. It's a poor comparison.
Excellent post...eventually I feel it will level off in the 40's...I work in energy, and I can say I would not count on it anytime in the next 3 months. I think prices will stay in the mid 50s to mid 60s for much of the next 6 months before we begin to see them start to tick down.Originally posted by: Engineer
It strange that watching CNBC, the analyst all say that oil futures should level off in the $40's sometimes in the next 6 month, but many have been saying that for over a year. The weak dollar and "PURE SPECULATION" (fear, terrorist going to blow up the pipes and sink the ships, etc.) is driving the $60ish price, nothing more. Supply and Demand factor into an equation, but it's a much lower equation.
Since OPEC oil is based on the US dollar, the weak dollar hurts them in the pocketbook. They weren't going to sit by and have less purchasing power because of the weak dollar, so the price was adjusted (with fear priced in) to up their purchasing power in US dollars.

I'll really be happy when it hits $90 and they stop that crap about it being adjusted for 1981 inflation.

That figure will also get bumped up (remaining considerably higher than the current price)--you can almost count on it.

Ah yes, gotcha.
When we start getting near $90, they will say it would have to get to $120 barrel adjusted for 1981 inflation, of course.
You're right, come tot thinkof it, I bellieve they used to say either $60 or $80. Can someone find what number they were using, I don't remember it being $90.
What point are you trying to make? How many diabetics are there vs. how many that drive? Last I checked, my health insurance didn't cover gasoline for my car.Originally posted by: dontknow1
O.K. those maybe a poor comparison but how about drugs such as insulin etcOriginally posted by: conjur
