I'm not saying $1.84 is cheap but why is Iowa lower than the rest of the Country up there in the middle of no man's land???

There is no refineries up there, it has to be piped into Iowa.

Lowest it dropped to here was $1.94 a few days ago and now ticking back up ahead of the Holiday.

6-21-2005 Gas Prices Drive More Consumers to Steal

As sticker shock at the pump shows few signs of abating, gasoline bandits are multiplying, pushing the rate of fuel theft to unprecedented levels. The trend illustrates that while gasoline demand remains relatively inelastic, consumer angst over high prices is steadily growing.

"Behaviors like stealing do mean the real cost of gasoline has had some significant impacts on people"

Why are there two Oil/Gas threads?

One focuses more on Oil, the other Gas.
Are they not very much related?
Perhaps you can indicate the difference between the two discussions, to make things more clear to me.

Damn towel heads.

Most of the world's oil is not produced in the Middle East. Take that bigoted attitude out of here.

Want to know the reason for high oil prices? Look in the mirror.

The march to $3 is on

6-27-2005 U.S. Gas Prices Up 8 Cents Over 2 Weeks

Gas prices surged an average of 8 cents a gallon during a two-week period, tracking the steep climb in the cost of crude oil, according to an industry survey Sunday.

With the summer driving season under way, the average retail price for all three grades of gas hit $2.24 a gallon on Friday, 8 cents from the all-time average high of $2.32 set in April.

Just a few words. My ten year old car gets 33 city and 40 highway with the Air-Con blasting, and burns no oil between 5000 mile oil changes. Ha Ha!! Enjoy the SUVs (those who own them.)

Seriously, poor people tend to not have the best cars and trucks. THEY are the ones feeling the pinch. For decades, SUV were bought and sold in large numbers, meaning that if you wanted a used car and were poor, you got something that was manufactured and sold in the millions to ensure parts were available when you broke down. This means that because of the immense quantity of Trucks and SUVs, that most got a truck/SUV. Now they are feeling the pinch.

I love driving 85 mph in my 8000lb Superduty...flying past SUV owners and people trying to "conserve"... I drive a deisel and it still getting 18mpg at those speeds with 38" tires. If I drive like a grandmother I can get 24mpg. Much much better than the old Chevy I had with a 454 where 8 mpg was downhill. Gas sux.

yeah, I don't think people will change till it hits $5 a gallon.. Still not bad and what they've paid in europe for years now. So what would that be? $150 a barrel assuming no more tax levied?

Hehe this will bring back the old phrase "Gas, Grass, or Ass, No one rides for free! " ..so it may not be all bad

That's at the lower off brand stations, name brand stations are at $2.59 to $2.69
Good grief! When I was down there a couple of weeks ago it had just topped $2.00 at that Exxon just on the south side of the Lake Ponchartain bridge.

All the stations here are at about $2.39 now.

I didn't realize there were fashionable places to buy gas. Has the GAP opened a gas station near your house?

I drive a truck because I have too, (V6 thankfully), and spend ~ $40 every 4 to 5 days. Luckly, gas is only around 2.09 here (Go south Texas!)...but having the AC on all the time kinda counteracts that. Damn am I glad I don't live in California!
