I've got the track and field edition in my closet, I learned that it was my wife's a week after getting married, unfortunately they don't have the original box. I was pretty ecstatic to learn of this, even though I don't have a clue how I would hook it up to anything in the house now.

On another note, in college I used to collect the Mega Man games on the SNES, I have no clue where they are at now, I should probably ask my sister, for some reason she ended up with my N64.

That's the fun I've been having the last couple of months with CZroe and Ichinisan's help, figuring out how to get retro consoles hooked up and looking their best on either modern HDTVs or CRT/PVM sets.

My sister somehow ended up with my Wii and XBOX 360 also. Apparently whenever I bring a secondary console to my parents house so I have something to play when I visit them, it ends up in her apartment...lol.

I have only 2 bitbox cases left for SNES, I decided that will be the stopping factor for me (for now). DKC2 has to be one of the missing ones, but now I'm thinking Megaman X should be the other based on your collection comment.

I guess that bundle had a Power Pad with Super Mario Bros./Duck Hunt/World Class Track Meet 3-game cartridge.

I have the triple cart.

I have a boxed SMB+DH NES Action Set and a boxed Power Pad I found at Goodwill many years ago, but I never owned the full NES+powerpad+mario+duckhunt+trackmeet bundle box.

Ya, I'm not sure what all I have, I will take a picture of it all when I go home for lunch. I will update this post with the pics.

Mega Man X2 and X3 are worth a pretty penny these days. The only one I have is Mega Man X. . I used to have X3 for PC but I stupidly sold it. I bought a Japanese Rockman 7 from Goodwill a decade ago and discovered that it was a pirate. Still have that. X2 is my favorite but it's the one I haven't played legitimately since beating my friends' copy as a teenager. IIRC, Mega Man Soccer is stupid expensive!

It sounds like you're talking about the NES that was bundled with the Power Pad and the 3-in-1 Super Mario Bros/Duck Hunt/World Class Track Meet set. I have a boxed Power Pad with World Class Track Meet and I have a boxed NES with SMB/DH, but that's the closest I get. When growing up, a kid across the road from me used to brag that he had two Nintendo's and that the other one was in storage. The one he had boxed up in his closed was the Power Pad bundle. I think more people saved the box to that set because they needed a place to pack up and store the Power Pad! I think that's why there are still Deluxe ROB the Robot sets too: owners needed a place to store the ROB/Gyromite accessories.

Edit: Beat'd by my bro.

The NES has composite video output (yellow connector) and a mono audio output (red). Practically every TV has composite input. Some of the newer ones consolidate connections and you need to connect the yellow composite video to a specific one of the component video input connections (red/green/blue). What kind of TV do you have?

...but a CRT TV is $5 at a Goodwill thrift store and an unmodified NES looks far better with a CRT (and the Zapper actually works).

So, I checked the box out, it's the complete field and track system, my wife told me that the only game they ever played was what came with it, and that cartridge has been in the system for the past 27 years.

I asked my sister what happened to the SNES, she said she donated it. I know for a fact I did have X3, after checking ebay prices I am sick to my stomach.

Added a couple more games today! I actually never played EB. Super Tennis was one of my favorite games, thankfully it's worth dirt cheap nowadays.

How much did you pay for Earthbound?! That one is always out of my price range

That NES looks great!

"Track and Field" was a Konami game though. I think you're talking about World Class Track Meet. Konami's T&F didn't actually support Power Pad, IIRC.

[edit]

Wow. X3 sold for $239.95 for cartridge only on eBay!

I updated the pics. Ya, you are right. I remember seeing stacks of those games in a used game store back in 2002 going for 5 dollars a piece.

That NES looks very clean!

I paid $220 for Earthbound. Yes, I'm sad. The label was in perfect condition, battery and rest of the cartridge is perfect. I looked at the price chart and it looks like I probably won't lose anything if I ever decide to sell, but who knows. Ebay seems like it has $190-250 right now.

Here's the stuff that came in yesterday! Gamecube DOL-001.

In my opinion, the Gamecube is the most comfortable video game controller ever created.

Here is my method for storing. I have a filing cabinet for NES, SNES, N64, Gamecube. I will have another for Sony PS1/PS2 and Sega once I begin down that inevitable path.

Nice. I never thought of that, but it seems like a decent way if you are not trying to make a display out of your collection. I might need to go that way. I do know I will be buying some of those cases for the NES, SNES, and N64 games (especially the N64 games since they don't even have a dust cover over the bottom, but then again neither did Atari carts...).

Atari carts had an integrated dust cover. The automated mechanism was way more complex so your average kid could not even access the card edge connector to touch it! Nintendo stopped including dust covers with SNES games in early/mid 1994 right when it was hitting its sales stride so hardly any of the memorable games since Super Mario All*Stars had one. That's why they are so much less common.

Yes, most of the SNES games I've gotten do not have a dust cover. That's OK, that's one thing the bitbox is good at - but I have acquired 3 in pursuit of old games. They were nice.

I did have my games on display, but I ran out of room quickly. I made the decision it's OK to look at them only when searching for something to play (rather than showing it off). It's nice, but it looks much cleaner in a nice filing cabinet.

I'm using this from restoration hardware, which is way over priced for what its final use is (storing retro games). I meant for it to be a computer desk, but it's about 1-2" too high and it's damn cold (because it's metal). Who wants to rest their arms on cold metal when using a PC?!

This is basically what I have, but I slid the large 3ft wide cabinet into the middle (so there's no place to sit, lol) - but lots of storage. The open area I have a UPS and my internet/router.

The majority of SNES games were sold after Nintendo stopped including dust covers. I always wanted to order more from Nintendo for my other games, but never did.

I sold my Rockband collection to a neighbor for $100. I wonder, with all the retro collecting I'm doing, if I'll ask for it back someday? lol. Have you guys played any of the newer Rockbands? I read the equipment was laggy in the XBOX One version.

I acquired a Model 1 Sega Genesis from Ebay ("High Definition Graphics") version, which is an easy way to guarantee it has the best audio chip. I'm awaiting the SCART cable for it from Retro Gaming Cables UK. Lol, I wonder what HD graphics meant to Sega back then...

I havn't played any of the Rock Band/Guitar Hero games since Rocksmith came out (and then Rocksmith 2014). Figure I might as well get my music game fix on while playing the real deal (had some lessons back as a 10 year old, but didn't really stick with it).

I picked up a bunch of SNES dust covers a while back off Ebay (at least enough to cover my collection and one or two spares). I will probably go down the bitboxes direction once I get into my own house and have a little more space to put everything (right now they go into big rubbermaid bins).

My sister said she still has the beatles rockband at their house in case we ever need to play again, lol.

Bitbox is very nice for NES/SNES/N64. I actually wish they had more for other consoles (Genesis, GBA, etc). I think the universal game cases (UGC?) might support some more with modding the boxes a bit for each console.

I texted my ex (from a year ago) saying I appreciated our time together and everything she crafted/gave me, but I was throwing it away to move on, and I hoped I'd see her again someday starting anew.

Her mom emailed me saying she's "warning me" to stay away from contacting her family/friends, including her daughter. And that her daughter is dating a new guy and she's happy. (why did she throw that in there? lol).

And the reply to that was her mom emailing me with a threat, lol. I told her last I recall, your daughter is an adult. Thanks.

For reference she dumped me, and we talked briefly after but never again since (because I thought it was for the best - what's the purpose of staying friends with an ex? your new girlfriend will be like wtf).

Trying to not let that eff up my day, but man I will never get involved with a girl again where you have to meet her parents first and you get background checked. The sad part is I loved that girl, but isn't that the story of every guy's life. How many more women can I love and end up with a broken heart before I don't try again.

The last year or so I've associated happiness with sadness because of her. A lot of my retro collecting hobby I think, the last couple months, has been to keep my mind off her and women. Is it possible there is a woman that doesn't bring drama along for the damn ride?!

Newest addition.

PLEASE tell me you plan to get VB Warioland? That game is awesome!

I hate you right now for reminding me about my missing Virtual Boy. I loaned it to a friend who left it at a drunk family member's home who got evicted for being a drunk. I still have my replacement stand (didn't loan that), original broken stand, battery box, original frayed eye visor (replacement was on the missing unit), original boxes and manuals, etc but no VB, no games, and no AC Adapter Tap/SNES AC adapter.

I got really good at Mario's Tennis and liked it better than any of the wanna-be RPG spin-offs. I did enjoy the N64 and GameCube Mario Tennos games but didn't play them nearly as much as the original VB version. Mario Clash is a really impressive 3D update of the original Mario Bros arcade game that shows off the system's strengths very well. Galactic Pinball and Telero-Boxer would round it out.

It pains me!

Hah! Sorry about that. So, this guy had a mint package of VB with Wario land/etc. I didn't know how "rare" wario land was, but I told him I'd like just the console and Mario Tennis. So he split the package. VB itself is not TOO expensive on ebay, but this guy's stuff is mint so I paid $100 for it.

I'll search to see if he still has Wario Land available.

I'm not sure if I could ever get into Mario Tennis. I really loved the original Mario Golf, I think no rendition after that was good. I think it first came out on N64?

I also loved Virtua Tennis on Dreamcast. I have Super Tennis on SNES now but the lines burn-in on my plasma after every point (when it scrolls down) and that's actually annoying enough to not play, lol.

This guy also modified another one of his VBs to use a headstrap. Seems interesting. There weren't a ton of VB games, right? The console lasted under a year I think. Japan it released and discontinued in 1995.

EDIT: He has Wario Land (JAPANESE version). I wonder if the VB is region free? Was there a US version of Wario Land?

Was great for rogue leader though.

Star Wars: Rogue Squadron 2 - Rogue Leader, and SW: RS3 - Rebel Strike are on my Gamecube lists.

RL was a launch game, impressive indeed. Rebel Strike contained the full Rogue Leader game with nearly every level as co-op. Is there any reason to own both nowadays?
