In the last year, my brother finished making a list of the titles we owned and promptly went insane -- buying everything he comes across that he didn't already have on his list. The collection is well over 400 unique NES titles now and has dramatically expanded for all platforms (not just NES).

He's also bought a desoldering rework station. Bought lots of broken games and fixed damaged traces. Installed our own Hi-Def NES and got 2 more kits to install. Also installed UltraHDMI and 2 more of those kits are on the way!
Can I be your sister?

Right up the OP's alley:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/351993739318

I ordered 10 of them and they are the real-deal!

Even though the L & R buttons have L & R printed on them like early controllers, the shells all have the reinforcement rib that keeps the cord-winding posts from snapping like they often do in earlier SNES controllers that also had printed L & R buttons.

I asked the seller where they were sourced from and she said it was previously from an arcade operator. I know that many Capcom arcade games had internal SNES controller ports on the CPS arcade board and there was an SNES Super System arcade that outright used SNES controllers, so perhaps they harvested the PCB and cord from new controllers to use with those for some reason. Regardless, they are 100% genuine with no signs of use. Shiny buttons with no haze or scratches, fresh rubber, no surface/contact scratching on the housing, and no grime in the crevices. Any flaws I noticed could just as easily have been present with new controllers, just the same.

I've received my modded Jungle Green Ultra HDMI N64 today. It outputs 1080p60 and dynamically tries to remove the VI blur filter the N64 is famous for.

I also picked up a new Gold controller from eBay (Japanese).

You must have been one of the first to own UltraHDMI. How much money did you have to spend for the installation back then? My brother recently installed UltraHDMI on a Jungle Green and it sold for $620!

The current firmware supports a new in-game reset (IGR) feature, but you'll need to add a wire that connects the UltraHDMI to the Reset button. My brother and I can add the wire for you (just the cost of shipping).

I know you're particular about controllers. I recently sold off a lot of controller stuff from my personal collection. Kicking myself for not letting you know so you'd have a shot.

Brace yourself:
https://www.ebay.com/sch/cyberzer0/m.html?LH_Complete=1&LH_Sold=1

Sold some sealed Funtastic series N64 controllers.

9/24 $134.50
DK64 Banana Yellow N64 controller in blister pack
9/17 $530.99
New/sealed Fire Orange N64 controller in blister pack
9/17 $172.49
New/sealed Ice Blue N64 controller in blister pack
9/17 $315.00
New/sealed Jungle Green N64 controller in blister pack

Sold a couple of prototype/developer green-jewel XBOX "Duke" controllers.

9/24 $225.07
New prototype XBOX "Duke" controller (still has protective film and twist tie)
9/24 $200.00
Used prototype XBOX "Duke" controller

Still need to sell my sealed Hori game boy player controllers for Gamecube (both colors, USA packaging). I can't find where a sealed box has ever sold on eBay.

My brother and I are the original owners for nearly all of that stuff. Bought N64 controllers for nearly full MSRP after Gamecube launched because we feared that one day all our controllers would wear out when you can't buy any more. We opened a few over the years just to avoid searching for our other controllers (kicking myself now). The remaining sealed controllers became too valuable to open, so we finally sold them off.

Sold UltraHDMI while other installers don't have kits on-hand:

$553.21 10/16 (Monday night)
Jungle Green N64 with UltraHDMI
$620.00 10/15
Jungle Green N64 with UltraHDMI
$536.00 10/1
Jungle Green N64 with UltraHDMI
$525.00 9/17
Japanese Clear-Red N64 with UltraHDMI

How in blazes does a vintage N64 output in 1080p @ 60fps? Does he mean the system renders the game in its standard 320x240 @ 20fps and then outputs it digitally via the hdmi mod and upscales it to 1080p?

I can see modding NES and SNES consoles to have a digital output because the games aren't going to look better on an emulator running in a higher resolution. Quite the contrary, in fact. But once you're looking at N64 and Gamecube games I would sooner just go the emulator route. Not even outputting a game like F Zero GX via official Nintendo component cables in progressive scan 480p looks as good upscaled to a big 4k tv as rendering it in 4k natively via dolphin.

It's an alternative to the RGB + xRGB Framemeister.

The retro image quality nerds at MyLifeInGaming explain it well:

UltraHDMI captures the digital image from the N64 graphics chip / framebuffer and produces 100% digital never-analog HDMI output signal. The games still render at their native resolution (240p or 480i). The FPGA on the board also performs the picture resizing to 720/1080 -- so you can bypass most of the horrible stuff your TV's image processor does (they just don't understand 240p). It also does it with far lower latency than the image processor in most TVs. Some people want to be authentic (real system instead of emulator) and still have the best picture quality they can get with the lowest latency.

Aside from getting the best possible picture quality from an N64, the other compelling feature of UltraHDMI is the VI De-Blur. A normal N64 forces a final blur over the entire screen, which cannot be adjusted or disabled in software. The blur is done by the N64's RCP graphics chip with a digital image processing algorithm. Since UltraHDMI can see the precise digital value of each pixel/color, it can perfectly reverse the algorithm to restore the image 100%. It's most emphasized with 2D text / menu / HUD elements.

With emulation, N64 is where I check out. I've never had a positive experience emulating N64. No combination of emulators, plugins, and input devices will actually get it right.

[edit]
Ugh. YouTube just recommended this N64 video demonstrating the rubber band AI of Mario Kart 64. I noticed that the icon for the player in 2nd place always has a "2" instead of a "5." It's a bug with the Project64 N64 emulator.
