Installed. The Elgato HD60 PRO did not want to go into any PCI Express slot except PCI-X1. Maybe it was conflicting with video card priority in any of the other slots, not sure.

Watched in the YouTube app on my Apple TV 4th gen and the flicker looked perfect!

I can't wait to get a Hi-Def NES. Which reminds me, I need to do my taxes!

Excellent!!! Let me know if tehre are any other games you'd like to see. Also, I will be redoing that video with a replay through of 1-1 with a filter mode on. That was straight 1080p60.

It's been a hectic 3-4 weeks for me, I resigned from my job of 9 years. We'll see how that decision goes, lol...

I feel like ive been watching that project for years. I hope those HiDef NES mod kits get released soon... and at a more reasonable price than $395 each.

I've got 4 NES and 70 games just waiting for a project.

I would guess, if the mod kit ever comes out, it might be in the $200+ range.

If we consider an OK condition NES is $50, $350. Now consider labor charge, probably $100+.

I picked up a few beat up hi-def NES and replaced their shells. Each was about $320-330.

Yeah, I think GametechUS went over pricing in one of the last videos that he had done with Kevtris. I think they were in the $100-120 range for the board and probably in the $160-200 for the board+install (depending on the final costs of the boards). I think they had one final thing that they were working on so that the installations go a little easier and cleaner (something to do with the spacing on the hdmi connector for use with the top loaders, but the original toasters have no problems which is why they have only been selling fully modded toasters on ebay and GametechUS's store).

Took a week off between jobs to relax, ripped out the laminate in my theater room and replaced it with this flooring.

Shocked to hear you left your job so suddenly! Hope "a week off between jobs" means you already have something lined up.

Need some red curtains and a backdrop that looks like the Super Mario Bros. 3 title screen. :awe:

The new job will require some travel, so we'll see how that goes. Yes, rule #1, never resign from your current job without having something else lined up!

Hah, that curtains thing would be hilarious. I could use that as a "pre-movie slide". Here's a photo I took when it was laminate flooring. The projector here is pretty laggy (input wise), so no actual gaming can occur.

Going further back in time makes it progressively more difficult to find OEM new controllers

I wouldn't really obsess over getting most controllers new.

The neighborhood convenience store used to have "Gemini" branded joysticks, paddle controllers, game switch boxes, and AC adapters. They looked like authentic Atari 2600 stuff except for the Gemini branding. I still think they were made in the same factory.

CZroe got a lot of Atari 8-bit stuff this year. Way beyond the 2600 stuff we had back in the day.

Pretty sweet. My bro has been buying a bunch of Atari 8-bit stuff recently too.

Atari 800, 800 XL, 5200, 7800 (and numerous 2600s). He got a sealed shipper box of new old-stock 5200 controllers. That's one system where it's practically impossible to find a used controller that works.

Just came across a boxed TI-99/4A at a flea market. Had lots of accessories, paperwork, and the speech synthesizer. My first computer was a TI-99/4A (even though it was already a decade obsolete by the time I got it).

A few days earlier, my brother had found a brand-new/unused speech synthesizer at Goodwill and bought it.

Then, quite ironically, after my brother commented sarcastically in an Imgur posting about cleaning keyboards, a random Imgurian scolded him for being an Apple device user and contributing to our disposable society. The guy bragged that he collects retro computers and showed a picture of his just-acquired TI-99/4A. Of course, his criticism was invalid because fixing retro tech is WHAT WE DO!

So we didn't encounter anything relating to TI-99 for 20+ years and we are suddenly getting bombarded with it!

Have a couple of the latest Hi-Def NES kits to install. Our original went perfectly. We've also done an UltraHDMI (N64) install and that was perfect. 2 more UltraHDMI kits on order and expected to arrive before the end of the year.

Got a $15 TurboGrafx16 at the flea market a couple months ago. Original controller, power cord, RF box, and (terrible) "Keith Courage" HuCard game. I already had a TurboExpress with a flight simulator game (Falcon 2.0 or something? Not my taste).

$490 Black Friday order from Krikzz.com arrives today. LOTS OF EVERDRIVES for various platforms. I'm excited!

I don't recall everything I ordered, but I know it includes:

SD2SNES (for me)
Super EverDrive (for co-worker)
Turbo EverDrive
EverDrive N8 (Famicom version)
EverDrive N8 (NES version)

Played a few rounds of Killer Instinct (SNES) with a friend-of-a-relative-of-a-friend-of-mine. Kicked ass. He put in Mortal Kombat 3 (I've always hated the Mortal Kombat series). Even though I'm unfamiliar with that game, I kicked ass at that one too.

There was another SNES controller they don't use because the Start button wouldn't work at all. You can mash the button hard and wiggle it all you want, but the game wouldn't ever sense that button. I took the controller home last night and opened it up. It was pretty grimy in the places you'd expect, but nothing significant between the rubber pads and the contacts on the circuit board. I cleaned them with 99% pure electronics grade alcohol and it works perfectly now. Still not sure why it didn't work at first.

Early SNES controllers had the dark printed "L" and "R" lettering on the shoulder buttons. I've noticed many of these have the cords pulled out such that the thin wires are exposed. That happens because the cord wraps around posts inside, and one of them breaks, giving too much slack. The posts are thicker on later versions of the controller. I like to wrap the cord a different way to use up the slack. When I opened this controller, I realized it had a broken post, but someone had tied a knot in the cord to keep it from pulling out.

In the last year, my brother finished making a list of the titles we owned and promptly went insane -- buying everything he comes across that he didn't already have on his list. The collection is well over 400 unique NES titles now and has dramatically expanded for all platforms (not just NES).

He's also bought a desoldering rework station. Bought lots of broken games and fixed damaged traces. Installed our own Hi-Def NES and got 2 more kits to install. Also installed UltraHDMI and 2 more of those kits are on the way!

Hi-Def NES is probably my favorite retro console.

I have the 2600 modded for RGB output.

Some of my other 2600 stuff smells like smoke. I bought new old stock 2600 CX controllers and they still smelled like smoke, because they're stored in someone's attic. Having trouble finding new stuff for 2600...

Does the projector have a "game mode" to reduce input latency?

Sometimes the "game mode" option is specific to each input. Might have to change to a particular input and then re-enable game mode again.

Found a copy of Flintstones, Surprise at Dinosaur Peak for NES. Guess its one of the rarer games, but the seller wants $500.00 for it. If any of you are interested, I'll get the contact information from the guy. It's being sold locally on facebook marketplace.

Pricing it for $500 means the seller knows that's a rare/valuable title. It's also commonly bootlegged. It would still be a decent sell-it-now price for someone that doesn't want to deal with eBay/PayPal fees. I would definitely want to verify authenticity before spending $500 though.
