Charlotte, NC - Any experienced Oracle PL/SQL developers with some experience also in Power Builder may want to contact Sapphire Technologies regarding a 3 month contract position that they have available. 5 years Oracle experience desired, Power Builder not as important. They have filled one of three openings. I would be candidate for one of the openings, but I am looking for fulltime work.

Well I just finished getting my associates degree in Visual Communications specializing in Digital Video. I was plaining on going on to get my bachlors but thought I would give it a go this summer to see if I could get my foot in the door with a company. I was woundering if anyone would know a good place to start looking for such a job or know of anyone who may be hiring I'm currently living in Pheonix but really would love to get out of this place before summer (something about 115 degree heat doesn't agree with me) so I'm open to reloacating. I'm looking for possibly a entry level video editing position or something in the video/broadcasting field to just get my foot in the door.

PM me if you got any leads or possibly a good location in the US to focus my search on.

Hey all, I'm new to Anandtech and just thought I'd contribute here in the hopes of something coming of it..

I'm looking for job opportunities in the Austin/Dallas/Houston areas in Texas, although other locations in TX would be acceptable. I'm an aspiring Unix systems administator and have been working with Linux/Unix for about 3 years now, although I dabbled a bit in the early 90's when I got my first computer. Unfortunately, I got caught up in the DOS craze... I was one of the kids who ran BBS' with SuperBBS and subscribed to FidoNet. The good old days.

I've completed 3 years of study (in Anthropology) at Texas A&M, but had to take time off to work due to lack of funds... I'm currently working as a technician (have been for 3 years) and have worked on contracts for Bluelight, RCN, Covad , Sotec, Warranty Dealer, and Medion USA. At this point I'm pretty much a tech support monkey - currently doing hardware/WinXP support for Medion.

I'm fairly competent with Unix, fluent in MS operating systems and can pick up on any application relatively quickly, and if given a weekend or so to study I can become extremely familiar with pretty much anything computer related - not much of a programmer (aside from *nix shell programming) though.

Operating Systems:
-------------------
Redhat 5.2
Slackware 8.0*,8.1*
Solaris 7, 8*, 9*
FreeBSD 4.7
OpenBSD 3.2*
Mac OS X
MS DOS 3 and up
Windows 3.1, 95*, 98*, ME*, 2000, XP*

Hardware:
----------
x86
Sparc

*Items I'm very familiar with.

I can be reached through the following:

AIM: jrm7200
Yahoo: jrm7200
MSN: jrm7200
Email: jeff(AT)duddleys.com

Thanks...

Unemployed college student looking for anything and everything in the Denton, TX area. I am a Photography major, and I am looking for anything.
I am a student at the University of North Texas, so if anyone knows of anything in the close proximity, even in lewisville worth my time give me an email at rabidlobster@yahoo.com I am in a desparate situation, so all leads are welcomed. I do not have a degree yet, and I am just a student, but I figured posting in here would help. I need the rent money either way..

Hey guys and gals. Just wondering, how good is having gone to a vocational school and getting diplomas for Microcomputer Specialist and Netwoking Specialist, plus my A+ and Net+ certifications? At least good enough for me to get my foot in the door, assuming I ever find a door that is? Right now, that's all I got, no experience, but LOTS of at home practice, and I've done a few odd and end computer jobs for people I know. I'd rather not HAVE to go back to school and get MCSE and Visual Basic training unless I have to. Well, not for a while anyway.

With what I'm seeing in San Diego, unless you are really good in that field, that might just get you an entry-level IT job. I have friends who did the same thing and are having a hell of a time trying to find a good job.

Good luck!

Sorry to hear

Do you have a website? I am putting a link to as many PC Techs/Consultants as I can on the DSL Modem website. It could be a great extension of the Networking here. Sort of like a functional useful Resume page that potential Employers or people that could use your services page. I've just been putting the links up now , I will organize it better once there is more entries.
Anyone in here that would like to put their link up just shoot me either a PM here or to my E-mail address.

Dave

Edit: I added WJE's Job site (Thanks WJE) list to the 1st Thread Note, is there any others I should put there?

BTW

anyone interesting in starting a business?? i have a business that i've started here in NJ. I think i can take this nationwide but i need people that can deliver IT services in various parts of the country. it would require some capital outlay. it's something i'm just now starting to think about. PM me or email me. it's not a job, it's buying into a business. it's not network marketing or anything like that. I'll do the marketing from a central location and when jobs come in for various states i'll be sending that out to appropriate people.

let me know what you think about that.

Here's what I have so far: Job Search Sites - I will continue to update the table with the sites until all 250 have been entered. I hope to have this activity completed within the next couple of days. I continue to post the updates as I complete them at the provided link.

Unfortunately, my printed listing is not formatted in such a manner that would facilitate the use of OCR scanning software.

wje, thanks for making the list.

dude, dont hate the player hate the game.

besides those people arent usually as GOOD at well from my experience programming.

i personally dont even think networking and IT is taught at most colleges, i know they dont teach it at ucla, its more of a trade than a field of study.
the networking we learn, is like network protocol design, not how to config cisco routers. totally different things, and there is a place in society for both of them

Unless you want to go elsewhere to live and work, you should go to UCLA's Campus Human Resources website to see if there are any jobs that you like, and instead of just sending your resume, go and speak with the people responsible for that position.

Happy hunting and an early congrats from a recent alumnus to a soon-to-be alumnus!
