Sigh.. My unemployment just ran out (as did my extension) and I can't find anything here in NYC... It's tough finding a part time job when you're a full time student.. Any leads in the area?

9-24-2003 Unemployed Telecom Manager kills his children, then self

On Monday morning, just seconds after authorities issued an Amber Alert for Randall and the other two children, he steered his SUV into the path of a tractor-trailer, killing himself and the 8-year-old son who bore his name. A 6-year-old son, Julian, was seriously injured.

Randall's note was found in the wreckage of the Dodge Durango.

His nine-year marriage had been a mistake, he wrote, and without a job, he believed he could not win custody of his children from his estranged wife.

Well, this is not a sure thing, but if anyone is in the cleveland area and looking for a helpdesk type job, PM me.

As a sure thing, my boss told me to be on the look out in my classes for fellow students with computer skills, so if you fit that desciption, PM me as well. However, you have to be a student (and I think you would ahve to be a full time student), so this is rather specific.

EDIT: I probably wont be checking this thread often enough to count, so like I indicated above, PM me with any questions. Dont reply back to me in the thread, as chances are very good I'll never see it

I'm out of a job now, so if anyone in Seattle needs a consultant for PHP/MySQL/HTML/CSS/other design work, please let me know. I can provide a portfolio and references.

I also am looking for consulting work for my former boss, who is a very good Systems Administrator and would like to work for a small company.

For students in NC (especially around Durham): a part time job migrating a website. You guys (and gals) could do this in your sleep. And it is a good way to get experience and some corporate experience.

Found on Dice.com

The CA state gov't is laying off workers. Hardest hit will be depts that are non-revenue producing or non-critical. I just got a layoff notice

Ford is cutting 12000 jobs.

"Fresh off the negotiating table, new labor agreements with the United Auto Workers will allow Detroit's Big Three automakers to eliminate as many as 50,000 jobs through a combination of buyouts and normal attrition during the next few years, industry analysts have said. "

More bad news for the jobless, like me

The Telecoms are gearing up for huge slashes in work force too. ATT&T getting ready to get rid of approx 20,000 as well as BellSouth and Verizon.

I don't see anything from stopping an all out DEPRESSION folks.[/quote]

Just started a 6-8 week contract with a Cox subsidary back home here in Las Vegas. Project basis.

I have seen a slight pickup in interest over the past month from Headhunters and companies.

Jobs going up?

MSN seems to have an article saying otherwise.. but, you would never point that out because your main motivation is to blame the President for why you don't have a job.

This thread should be unstickied, its nothing more than a political bashing thread now.

Did you even read the whole article? It said some sectors added a few jobs while others shed some. As a whole, it said the joblessness really didn't change at all.

Which still contradicts many of the postings by dmcowen.
