ABOUT GEORGIA:
Perhaps Georgia?s most exciting asset, however, is the lifestyle it offers. In Georgia, employees and their families will find communities, attractions, and a quality of life that will keep them happy and productive.
Healthcare
Outstanding medical care is available throughout Georgia, in large and small communities alike. The state has over 191 general hospitals and 25,000 physicians to deliver high-quality care. Georgia also boasts four outstanding medical schools including Emory, Morehouse School of Medicine, Mercer Medical School and Medical College of Georgia.
Living Costs
A relatively low cost of living is another reason to enjoy all that Georgia has to offer. Atlanta construction costs are below the national average, with prices in smaller communities even more affordable. Residential energy rates are among the lowest in the nation.
Climate
Georgians enjoy a very comfortable climate. Average summer temperatures are between 73 and 82 degrees, typical winter mean temperatures are between 51 and 56 degrees.
Elementary/Secondary
Georgia?s elementary and secondary schools have earned national recognition for establishing high academic standards. The state?s revised curriculum standards are among the highest in the nation. This strong core provides our students with the basic skills needed for the highly technical jobs of the future.
Higher Education
The University System of Georgia, the nation?s fourth largest, includes 34 public institutions enrolling 217,000 students with 8,958 full-time faculty. Four research universities and two regional universities have 228 institutes and centers conducting research.
HOPE makes Georgia different. Most of the freshmen from Georgia attending our state?s colleges and universities are paying no tuition because of the HOPE scholarship. Financed by the state lottery, HOPE has awarded $1.6 billion and assisted more than 616,475 students since 1993.
Higher Education/Technical Training
Georgia?s colleges and universities work closely with businesses across the state to ensure that they are training the workers needed in today?s economy. The HOPE scholarship program has increased the human resource pool for Georgia businesses by providing tuition, books, and fees for high-achieving Georgia students who maintain a ?B? average.
