Are any of you in I-banking? I am a junior attending Cornell University majoring in Econ and minoring in Math and History. I am looking for a possible internship with an investment bank for summer 2005. i am really interested in some analysis work so an internship as a research analyst would be ideal. if any of you are in that business, please let me know so we can talk in depth. it doesn't even have to be about a job, if you have some insights to offer, that's great too. i am willing to take any advice. thanks all.

Not sure if I should post this in here or not, but it seems like a good place, with many new graduates, as well as some having to change careers. I am unsure about what career field I want to pursue. I like working on computers, and networks and stuff like that. But I don't want to spend several years getting a degree in those areas and then have to get a job in a differant area because none are available in that area. But even still, I just don't know what area to look at. Network security sounds interesting, and is the direction I am currently looking, but I know it is hot right now, and there may not be enough jobs for all the people trying to get into that area right now.

So what helped you choose your career field?

19 i wouldn't have guessed

to be a cop you need (usually) some college coursework.

Initally you take a physical and a written test.

if you pass, you wait....

when there are openings you will be called for a interview (depending on aforementioned scores your family's history in the particular dept who you know etc.). Basically they will see if you will be someone who will enjoy the job and not skip out (as they do invest money in you for your training and equipment). If they like you then you go through the usual background screening process sice you will have a gun after all. Then you go to the acadamy (usually state run) and there you learn police methodology. they you graduate get your gun, badge, stick, and a crappy shift in a bad area.

First post to this thread. I'm not a recruiter or headhunter...at best I'd get an employee referral after 90 days.

We are hiring Test Analysts/Coordinators. Preference is given to:

1) J2EE/Java experience in testing. BS minimum (prefer technical field)
2) Midwest (prefer Illinois) candidates, or mobile candidates who won't mind relocating to a city in the middle of farmland
3) Team leadership/coordination skills helpful. Soft skills are great - geeks that can't communicate will have a problem.

You need at least 5 years IT experience - not necessarily all directly testing, but it should have some testing and some coordination/project experience.

I know that 10 positions that have been requested, I've only interviewed 3 to this point. This is permanent (or at least as permanent as a supplemental staffing position can be - our company has a 3 year contract, but it's been renewed every time and we have over 250 consultants staffed at the company)

Not sure of the salary range, but I think it goes from like 55 to 75 DOE, plus bonus/overtime opportunities.

PM me if you are qualified and interested or have questions. Most of my answers will be "I don't know, you should talk to our company recruiter"

First time posting in this thread, but here goes:

I think the writing is on the wall as far as our dept goes. >80% of IT is now located overseas, we've got a duplicate helpdesk and an upcoming "efficiency review" for all our depts (think Office Space type reviews).

If anyone has any helpdesk or technician spots in the Phoenix metro area, or the Seattle-Tacoma, please PM me. I'll respond with my resume and any references if needed.

My specialties are in desktop support, desktop hardware and basic networking. I've also been an email administrator for several large domains (over 60,000 accounts). I'm a hard worker that can think out of the box, and am a very quick learner.

Thanks!
