I am still interested in keeping the "Tech Referral List" up and running, and will update it. I think it would be a fantastic and valuable resource for those looking for work. The intention of the list in it's genesis was if you knew someone in Raliegh and they had computer problems, and you lived in Norfolk, you're not going to drive out to fix it. So you could look on the list to see who is in the Raliegh area and PM them and see if they would be interested in looking at the problem. Kind of simplistic, but it could serve a greater good. PM me or email me and I will gladly update the list and turn it into something worthwhile.

Not really looking for anything at the moment, but you know what they say...you're always looking.

School.
I'm 21, located in southern Indiana. I will be finishing my BS in Comp Science (emphasis in Math/Science) with a minor in Math a year from now. Considering going for Masters in it but I'm not quite sure how much it would benefit me.

Job Experience.
Working part time as a helpdesk operator for a little over 1.5 years now at a hospital.
Experience with AS/400, other job responsibilities than the normal helpdesk operation include: tape backups, software backups, PC/network maintenence when on-call personel are either too far away, have access to fix it myself, or they can walk me through it over the phone.

Working part time/full time as a web designer/web application programmer for about 1 year now.
Examples of sites I've worked on can be seen at:
Univerity of Louisville Music Department
The Jazz Artist (including all 19 artist sites). Latest project was the calendar.
Jiggawatts personal site, haven't done much with

And of course, just like many here I have a sort of side business building/fixing computers.

I just graduated from GA Tech with a BS in Management and minors in Marketing and German. I do have some programming experience, however (Pascal, Visual Basic, C++) and can also work in Dreamweaver and PhotoShop. I've even done some LAN administration. My work experience includes a year at Delta Air Lines' e-Business department. My English and German resumes can be read at my web site, ThreeWood.com.

Edit: I am looking for work in the Atlanta area, West Coast, or even Germany.

hi,

i am in the chicago area and i am looking for a programmer/admin job for an eternity already . My last job 'til April 2002 was for an ISP.

I am an VBScript/VB 5&6, ASP, Access97 (VBA), SQL programmer, (some JAVA and C too), proficient in all flavors of Win, IIS 4.0, user management and much more.
(I can send my resume to anyone interested

I am looking for webpages and/or other resources where i can find offers and information about local Chicagoland companies.

greetings and merry x-mas !

Edit:
I am not 'unemployed' right now...i am tempting (means: NO benefits, NO sick days, NO health insurance, crappy pay), doing some very, very low level non computer related job.
With me (in the same department) at this (very big and well known) company M******* are at least a dozen, all former software engineers and programmers who now do all the same lousy job...barely able to pay their bills, and *dare you*, come a day you might be sick, need medical attention etc...
And, despites all that, i am even glad that i have THIS job because i know it could be even worse, meaning: NO job at all or a job which is/pays even worse.

To cite a co-worker of mine: "The economy is so bad right now that only the strong survive" ... and "being strong" in this case means that you might literally bust your a** doing some "not so good" jobs for pay you never thought you'll ever work for..and of course keep up the positive thinking, sending out resumes, look around for other jobs...

greetings

Hang in there Shurato, that is a BS smokescreen. The reality is that there is a ton of unemployed Pros that were making $80K-100K and better now taking the Entry level $20-35K positions.

You in Columbia in NYC, Banking / Finance along with Telecom are the hardest HIT industries for the last 2 years, whether you are financial in them or IT in them, same thing. You better off looking outside of Banking/Finance, might be easier. Be happy enough you are in school, and in Columbia I guess. NYC has like 8pct unemployment overall, National is 6pct.

Speaking as someone looking for a business type job - where should I be looking?

exactly - why worry about training a new employee when you can have an experienced pro for the same price?

anybody see the news.com article that said approximately 30% of it employees plan to change jobs next year? i wonder where they think they can go...
