Essential Functions:
Support the software development (i.e., computer programming), maintenance, testing, and installation of a large, real-time, military combat system onboard U.S. Navy Aegis cruisers and destroyers as well as associated land support sites. Responsibilities include problem isolation, design of corrections and enhancements, code, unit test at the government?s computer facilities in Dahlgren, VA, element and system test support, documentation generation, shipyard travel (to San Diego, CA; Bath, ME; Pascagoula, MS; Norfolk, VA; Mayport, FL; Yokosuka, Japan; and Puerto Rico), and shipboard support both in-port and at-sea.
Essential Knowledge:
Candidate should possess programming experience in Ada and/or C/C and/or Java as well as experience working with Integrated Development Environments (i.e., integrated program generation builders, compilers, editors, and symbolic debuggers) on SUN, HP, or POWERMAX SMP host-based workstations running Solaris, HP-UX, POWERMAX, or Linux operating systems targeting VME Single Board Computers (SBCs) running VxWorks, Tornado, HP-UX, HP-RT, or POWERMAX Real-Time Operating Systems on Motorola, HP, Themis, SUN, or Concurrent POWERPC, HP-RISC (743/744), Sparc, UltraSparc, or 68K processors. Candidate also should possess debugging experience with VME, firmware, and NTDS, FDDI, ethernet, GPS/IRIG, networks, routers, and backplane hardware.
Essential Education:
B.S. or greater in CS, EE, Physics, Math, or Engineering (except Civil) or the equivalent in experience (recent substitutable combat system, real-time, DoD, Joint, Navy, and/or military systems and software and programming experience). In addition, positions require from a minimum of 4 - 7 years of related experience.
Essential Skills:
Hands-on experience with object-oriented design, programming, and requirements analysis. Ability to debug/isolate a problem as well as design, implement, and test the solution. Good verbal and written communication and other interpersonal skills. Ability to positively respond to intense learning environment and to work cooperatively with CSC?s Navy customers.
